DonJosh Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 (edited) Hey Guys, I don't know much about modding, but it's possible to change the K4 to G-10? I only mean the Aircraftmodell, not the flight model or cockpit. For me, the aircraft frame looks the same. the tailwheel ist not retractable and the gears in the G-10 are not coverable. these are "small" things to mod, but it is possible? regards Josh Edited January 2, 2015 by DonJosh
Flanker35M Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 S! Externally propably not much needed to change, but G-10 had different equipment and cockpit layout etc. How much work that would require to change, who knows. G-10 would be nice to have, many pilots say in the books the G-10 was a well performing plane. Friedrich-4B Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 There were several variations to the engine cowlings and oil coolers of the G-10, according to which factory built it; other differences include the locations of the fuel filler and D/F loop, which were back one fuselage frame cf the K-4, and the radio hatch which was also back one fuselage frame. From Jean-Claude Mermet: Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-1 through K-4; Engine and Fittings pages 78-79: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]************************************* Fortunately, Mk IX is slightly stable, anyway, the required stick travel is not high... but nothing extraordinary. Very pleasant to fly, very controllable, predictable and steady. We never refuse to correct something that was found outside ED if it is really proven...But we never will follow some "experts" who think that only they are the greatest aerodynamic guru with a secret knowledge. :smartass: WWII AIRCRAFT PERFORMANCE
Flanker35M Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 S! Seems the oil cooler and tail wheel assembly varied with Werke Nummer, as can be seen on the pics posted. The D/F loop seems to be forward in the later serials, further back in all the earlier serials except the 130110 to 130355. Quite a mishmash there, which one to model? Propably the one with least external work required to "convert" a K-4 to G-10. Cockpit would need more work I guess. Solty Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Mod to look like G10? Probably doable as I have seen people changing P-51 to look like Fw190D9 when it was still only AI version. But you won't get G10's performance from changing a skin. So it would change very little in the game for you and would require somebody to make a new model and you can't mod cockpits as far as I remember (That is why F-16 mod is using MiG29 cockpit) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]In 21st century there is only war and ponies. saburo_cz Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Two "models" G-10 were produced. "Standard" from Messerschmitt factory in Regensburg and WNF, these had same nose like K-4 (100 type). WNF produced probably alone G-10/U4 with same armament like K-4. and "ERLA" from Erla Maschinenwerk in Leipzig. This subtype had different engine cowl, type 110, and probably oil cooler. Both variants had long or short tail wheel and small or big bulge on wing, all depends on productions series. Kurfürst Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Some of the G-10 produced by WNF also seem to have been fitted with aileron Flettner tabs, as some of the previous WNF G-6s. http://www.kurfurst.org - The Messerschmitt Bf 109 Performance Resource Site Vezérünk a bátorság, Kísérőnk a szerencse! -Motto of the RHAF 101st 'Puma' Home Air Defense Fighter Regiment The Answer to the Ultimate Question of the K-4, the Universe, and Everything: Powerloading 550 HP / ton, 1593 having been made up to 31th March 1945, 314 K-4s were being operated in frontline service on 31 January 1945.
BFBunny Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Buy battle of starlingrad and then you won't have the weirdness of flying a k4 that looks like a G-10, but is still a k4. I expect you could change the model to a flying tomato if you really wanted.
