Hi LynxDK

If CMSC has same format as the 10As AN/ANR (rather sure it has) the MIP mounting hole distance are 30mm vertical and 129mm horizontal (center to center),

MIP cutout is 109,4 x 47,5 mm and the holes centric placed 'round that'

/Gus

Edit. Just found the pics posted above of the front face and body measurements of the CMSC. AN/ANR has the same size of faceplate width and notch higher (less then .5mm). MIP Holes "should" be the same

Edit #2: Verified a caliper of better quality (on a 10A MIP) (Errorlimits somewhere under 0,3 mm (used centric adapters in bolt holes)

cutout.

CMSC Hole distances are 119,4 (H) * 30,6 (V) mm

CMSC cutout is 109,4 x 47,5 mm and the holes centric placed 'round that'

I'm not building a cockpit as such - I'm just adding some pieces to my desktop - the MFDs and the UFC.

I also use these for other sims.

Here's where the real sales potential is. Customers who want a couple of most used panels on their desktops. So far no one hasn't offered a finished and desktop mountable USB pluggable 5v backlit panels like the Thrustmaster MFDs.

The most important thing is that they have to be affordable for masses. Not like that extremely pricey Simparts stuff that require an extra expensive CAN device to make them work. All you need as a customer, with my business approach proposal, is your favorite powered USB HUB

My rig specs:

Intel Core i7 4770 @3.4Ghz // Corsair 16GB DDR3 // MoBo Asus Z87K // HDD 1TB 7200RPM // eVGA Nvidia GTX 760GT 2GB DDR5 // LG 3D 47" 1920x1080 // Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS // Saitek Combat Pro Pedals // Thrustmaster MFD Cougar pack // PS3 Eye + FTNOIR

Thank you so much Gus. But is the 129mm you say horizontally the total width of the backplate? as the ADI is 127mm wide, and the CMSC Panel isnt wider than that?

I just recieved a document from the National Museum of the US Air Force, And they where kind enough to provide me with the dimensions i needed too, and they said that the Vertical distance is 1 3/16" which is 30,16 mm which is the same that you said :) And then they wrote the Horizontal is 4 5/8" which is 117,47 mm, and that is also exactly the same the ground crew in Kuwait provided me with. The only thing they measured wrong, was the Vertical measurements..

But im so pleased that this is now solved :)

I didnt have the original hole Cutout size in the MIP, so that is very nice that you could provide that :) I thank you many times for that, i was afraid that i was never able to acquire info like this. But this is the main reason for this forum isnt it, to help eachother out :)

Thank you :) The PDF with the outer Dimensions will be updated soon.

LynxDK, measuremt was made on a 10A MIP so there still is a possibility there is a slight missalignment between that and the 10C MIP.

Measurement stated is as close I could get with the tools at hand. I'll doublecheck this weekend with verified tools and ping you back just in case.

Hey, Lynx. I'm interested in your Glareshield and FIRE handles. Let me know when they will be ready to ship out

My rig specs:

Intel Core i7 4770 @3.4Ghz // Corsair 16GB DDR3 // MoBo Asus Z87K // HDD 1TB 7200RPM // eVGA Nvidia GTX 760GT 2GB DDR5 // LG 3D 47" 1920x1080 // Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS // Saitek Combat Pro Pedals // Thrustmaster MFD Cougar pack // PS3 Eye + FTNOIR

7rooper, i will do that :)

For info i can tell you that before those are ready for shipment, i need to make sure it fits the MIP 100%, fx. the way its fixed to the MIP and the UFC mounting plate ontop of it. So i have some fine tuning to do when the new machines gets up and running next week, but i will post pictures like usual :)

Havent sorted the backlight for the glareshield Panels either, so thats also in the works :)

But i will Update as soon as i can :)

Regards.

I apologizes for the delay on updates, but there have been many things to tend to the past couple of months.

Here is the CMSC Panel as promised, with the Dimensions Provided by Duckling, thank you very much Gus :)

http://lynx.dk/blueprints/A-10C%20CMSC%20Panel%20Outer%20Dimensions.pdf

Right now im working on finishing the Top drawing of the MIP so it fits the Glareshield.

And after having recieved some dimensions for the Glareshield, i have accually made it deeper, like the original, and that made it possible for me to make a more easy installation to the MIP.

It also means i have reworked the Firehandles, and the Panel Housings.

Unfortunally that also means More 3D Printed material, which i have not taken into account of the price i released here in the thread earlyer. Of course the price at that time was before i had real dimensions to go from, but its still unfortunate. I am still working on it tho, and i hope to be finished very soon, and i will make the price as close as possible to what i released earlyer, as this is obviously not your fault :)

The Glareshield if what im using all my time on atm, for those of you who where interested.

Also the MIP Drawings are close to be done.... and will be released soon as well.

And the way that is going to happen, is that i tend to release it in Versions. So if i make improvements later on, i will release a new version. The same im thinking about doing with the Consoles, AcesII and the Cockpit Itself... So people can pick whatever version works for them.

I thought i would show you the Firehandles with light on.

The first 2 pictures is taken with a worklight right above it, to show you how it looks in a room with the lights on. And the second 2 pictures i turned off the light above the handle, but there is still light in the room.

This one has a single 1,8mm Yellow LED in it, but there is plenty of room for more if one would like.

There is no engravings on this one, because i just want to show you guy how the diffuser looks.

So here it is.

Here is a couple of Pictures of the Glareshield Mounted on my "glass cockpit" version of the MIP drawing, which will be released soon, i just need to doublecheck everything.

It shows the Glareshield as it is, tho here shown without Firehandles. Its easy to mount from the back on whatever MIP you allready have, as i will provide a template PDF for the mounting holes, 1:1 for easy drilling.

It is build in sections, as shown ealier, and i did this so its easier to print that way, and it also makes the shipping a whole lot simpler.

It will because of that, have tiny gaps between the sections when its screwed together, but most of those will be covered with the Aluminum Mounting plate for the UFC, that will be available later on.

If you dont like the Gaps, or the 3D printing marks, you can also pretty easy fill em up and paint them, and i will provide a guide for that, its a very simple task.

But here it is, the pictures should speak for themself.

The Glareshield is now ready for sale, and will be added to the sales section in a couple of days. but ordering is now possible.

And here to show the MIP Center Piece together with the Glareshield, which are also in the final stages of being testet with real instruments, and then that will also be available.

Im sorry about the MDF MIP, but im using this material to test everything, before making the final version. Its cheaper to work with.

Have to say again you are doing some very good work. With some sanding and paint you will never see the parts are 3D printer.

Keep up the good work!

The MIP Center piece does support real Devices, and the MIP cuttings will too... but im also making this version, for people using Helios on a monitor.

Of course those instruments that cant be covered in a monitor, will be made as real instruments.

Sorry if it was posted in the thread previously, but Lynx what 3D printer do you have?

I've been looking into one recently and I'd like to know your recommendation.

Ah thanks!

Any particular quirks or dislikes with this one you've noticed?

Do you have any experience with other models, particularly those marketed to the US?

Lynx, the center piece for the MIP has worked out better than I ever expected! Thank you! Expect another PM, except this time with a whole shopping list full of items! ;)

Im glad you like it, and i must say that it looks really good with it all sanded and painted the same color :)

And its nice to see real instruments mounted on it... As i mentioned earlier, 3D Prints are more Tough than people might think, it all depends on how you design and print it :)

Well this model makes really nice prints, i have had some experience with some of my friends "cheaper" models, from Velleman, and they can not make half a nice print as this one.

But the next printer im going to purchase is probably something like a Makerbot Replicator, to try out other manufactors, and see the differences. :)

The two I've been looking at in particular are the LulzBot TAZ 5 and the Ultimaker 2. Any thoughts on those two?

Sorry for the small derail into 3d printers lol

the Ultimaker is also on the list of printers i might try in the future.

And of those 2 you mention there, i would definately say the Ultimaker, simply because of the closet cabinet.

Now you asked of cons and pro's before, and there is one thing my printer have, that i cant seem to find any indication that any of those other 2 you mention have. And that is a Automated HeatBed Scan function.

Which basically emans that even if your printbed is not 100% lvl, the printer can scan it, and still make straight and level prints. Thats a Huge help :)

Regards.
