Upgrade from GTX 670 to 970/980

I currently am running a 4770K @ 4.4 with a gtx 670 FTW+, and am thinking about upgrading to either the GTX 970/980. My question is, what kind of performance increase could i expect with this upgrade? And also, is there a new line of cards coming out anytime soon that i should wait for instead? thanks

I don't think we can know for sure until EDGE comes out. For now, I know a friend running a GTX 670 4GB desktop card (I use the same laptop version), runs it way better than mine without any big problems...just because DCS uses more CPU. So, you might not see too much of an increase right now? That is what I would expect....but it might change when 2.0 comes where GPU is being utilized more.

Recently upgraded from a GTX 460 to the 980 myself. Night and day difference, but of course you're two generations up from where I started. I say DO EET. I'm sure you're not going to regret it.

 

And the 1000 series won't be out until 2016, so no worries there.

Cant wait to get my 980 GTX water-cooled, if it ever gets delivered... postponed again by my distributor ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

 

running a 480GTX from a friend right now, can't complain ! I staretd DCS on a MacBook Pro Retina with a 650M-GT.....that was slow haha

I have 2 GTX285, and my GTX970 should be here tomorrow. I'm guessing I should be seeing a decent difference. Also upgrading from an i7-920 to the 5820K.
