A-10C Switch Extension - Honeywell Replica.

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I got a Local smith to make me some switch extension for my Cockpit.

This is the first batch he made for me and they are looking really good.

He made 6mm holes for normal switches, but also 3mm holes for smaller swithces, to fit Arm Panel mounted in front of screen.

They are all hand turned aluminum, and takes a little time to make, but they are made so they can easily be glued on top of our normal on/off and on/off/on switches.

Im posting this here, because if there is anyone other than me who are interested in these, you have the opportunity to get some.

These are replicas of Honeywell 11TW1, but he will also make copys of Honeywell 2TL1 and Eaton 8855K7.

He can also make another size hole, if your switch has another diameter, and is open for making other small things for us, if someone has ideas.

If there is any interest in this, i will order them and post them.

I will see if i can get some better pictures taken one of these days, as these was taken with my iphone.

Best Regards

Very nice. I've made a couple of plastic "push on" handles on a 3d printer at work. Mine aren't as shiny as yours.

When I was making my NMSP I turned out a few switch tops on my lathe. Fast, easy little side project. This is the only pic I have right now mixed in with a bunch of other parts i was making at the time.

You need to make a little jig to hold the toggles and the switch tops in alignment while the epoxy sets up or they look a little funny when they're sitting in a panel. Also, for the mushroom switch tops, you need to make the sidewall as thin as possible much as I did above. Otherwise they look a bit odd as they appear out of proportion.

It just occurred to me as I was looking at your pics again that one could also fabricate the bottom part of that type of switch if you used the mini toggles. You have a switch top for a mini toggle in your pics and that's what made me think of it. It probably would not work with a full sized toggle as it would end up being way too large but the mini toggles are small enough to accommodate a cover such I am thinking of.

I was thinking of posting it in the Sales section, but i need better Pictures for that, and i wanted your opinion first too.

The Price for these was 7$ each, but if we buy more we get em a Little cheaper.

Warhog: Yea, yours are also looking really nice... specially that Eaton top... and yes.. the sidewall are really thin, mine can maybe be a Little thinner, i dunno, when i look at the schematic from Honeywell... it looks right...

About that cover plate on the Small switches... that ones interesting... of course you have to grind the side so they get the sloping sides, but yes... that might be possible.

Hi John

I'm thinking about revisiting my CDU and UFC, the approach you've already taken is where I'm landing as well. whereabouts did you score the lighted push buttons from?

Cheers

I made them from Tact switches. Each one. Took a bit of time but its just repetitive work. once you make a little jig to cut the pieces it goes really fast.

I'll PM you with the details as I don't want to hijack his thread

Hey Warhog, would you consider opening a thread for that? Also interested here :)

Hello, please see the For sale section:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=138416

Prices will soon be updates, when we get the 2 new switches ready for sale. But the Price will be higher on the new switches, due to longer manufactor times.

And yes, i will ship World Wide :)

Thank you :)

Im working on the design for the Oxygen Switches....

And i think i have to make them for the small switches, with 3mm top, since the originals are very thin headed, and the 6mm from normal switches are too big.

I will post Pictures when i have done some tests.

Let me know you need measurements. I have a real panel and you could borrow it for reference. PM if you wanna go for that option. Shipping back and forth shouldn't be too bad as I am in DK-9400.

EDIT. Just found out that my panel is for a commercial aircraft NOT military. Sorry about that :( The levers aren't the same.

Cheers

Here is a Little headsup on a prototype External Store Jettison switch protection, with or without switch.

Its not quite finished, it need to be curved at the buttom at the inside of the protector.

it measures 30mm in Width, and 18mm in height. Its designed to bed lowered into the panel it sit upon, by 5-6 mm, im not suite sure if the height is right, let me know what you think, and or if anyone know the real height, would be helpfull.

Its turned out of a single piece of Aluminum, and Pictures of the curved buttom will be here soon.
