nandrews Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I haven't yet found any user manual for the DCS program itself. i.e., how to set-up for my PC with my controls etc. Can anyone point me to it? Nigel P.S. I installed thru' Steam and so I do not have an install folder.
cichlidfan Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Yes you do have an install folder. By default it is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DCS. In that folder is a Doc folder which contains the base manual. Other manuals will be under ..\DCS\Mods\<module name>\Doc Hope that helps. Belgeode Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Sorry to chime in here, but that brings to mind another manual related question: What version is the CURRENT version of the manual? I was looking something up about the mission editor commands that were not listed in the manual I have, from when I downloaded the game in November 2014. Has the manual been updated since then, to include some of the newer items in the Mission Editor? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] YouTube ~ Twitch

nandrews Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 Thanks to all for your quick replies. I will use the pointers you have given me. Nigel
Wrecking Crew Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I'll add a doc ? -- where is the manual the the ME now? It used to be the "DCS GUI Manual EN.pdf" me thinks. WC Visit the Hollo Pointe DCS World server -- an open server with a variety of COOP & H2H missions including Combined Arms. All released missions are available for free download, modification and public hosting, from my Wrecking Crew Projects site.
Belgeode Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 With every new update of a manual, it is also installed automatcally via autoupdater. While that makes perfect logical sense... It really does not answer my question. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] YouTube ~ Twitch
Lino_Germany Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) It really does not answer my question. You wrote that you last downloaded the manual in November 2014. If you want to know if it was updated since then, just take a look at your "DCS World\Doc" Folder. There you can find the CURRENT version of the "DCS User Manual EN.pdf". Since every new update of a manual will also installed automatically via autoupdater, you will find the most current version at your hard disc. This file was last edited 04.04.2014, 16:33, so one can say that your file is absolutly current. Edited February 5, 2015 by Lino_Germany Kind regards, Lino_Germany
Belgeode Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Ok that makes more sense... Of course it also means that the manual is outdated. It is definitely missing info on some of the things I see in Mission Editor. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] YouTube ~ Twitch
