CrackerJack Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I've just attempted to fly the easy target practice mission. When I contact the AWACS to get a PICTURE the altitude of the contact is reported in ft. This is fine except for the fact that the Mig altimeter is in meters. I'm pretty good with numbers but I'd rather not have to do a conversion on the fly :) So am I missing something?? Can I get the AWACS to report meters? Thanks. Kelevra9987 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 On the fly I can suggest yout to divide the Altitude from the AWACS by 3. So lets say your Bogey ist at Angels 20 he is at around 6600m. Cheers. 1 Modules: Well... all of 'em ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VIII Hero | CPU: i7-6700K @ 4.6GHz | RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengance LPX DDR4 | GPU: GTX TITAN X (Maxwell) | SSD1: 256GB NVMe SSD System | SSD2: 250GB Games | HDD 4TB WD Red
KLR Rico Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 ^ That's what I do as well. 3:1 is close enough to get an idea of where they're at, there's not too much to be gained narrowing it down more precisely than that. i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS

It's also more accurate! I know that as divide by 10 then multiply by 3, same thing. That is the standard conversion for when you have to do it mentally and much more accurate than divide by 3.
Stealth_HR Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Symptom of the same bug as in http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=130908&highlight=altimeter I'd say. I'll check it out in the evening and see if that same QFE mmHg fix also affects the units in AWACS/GCI responses. Dirty Rotten Flieger Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I'm sure you can change the setting in option between metric and imperial. My AWACS is in metres, so I'm guessing your option in set to imperial

"Metric" set here, yet in target practice missions I get altitudes given in feet. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Dirty Rotten Flieger Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 HHmmm... try checking the nationality of the AWACS. I think US will use imperial even if it is a russian plane. I am flying Russian Mig with russian AWACS and all coms are in metric.
