Mostly because it is a proprietary "standard" (not even a standard at this point) and only usable for AMD.. ED is a small company and have to focus on coding keeping the "Biggest bang for the buck" mantra firmly in view..

 

Besides, nearly all of the benefits of MANTLE will be realized with Microsoft's DirectX 12 and that API can be used with all hardware, not just AMD...

No. Mantle is a propriety marketing gimmick to sell AMD video cards. AMD had to pay Dice $8 million to get on board with AMD otherwise, it would have never been adopted by them.

As was said, and just to reaffirm, DX12 will render Mantle moot anyways.

Mantle is limited to AMD only, so its unlikely to happen.

 

DX12 is going to turn tides, as its so complicated and low level that it will allow AMD and nVidia GPUs to work together in rendering the same scenes.
