zaelu Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Eurofighter is a cheap plane? I want 10 :D . [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
nscode Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 It is indeed the Avro Arrow. When they canned it, it took all of Canada's Aeorspace potential with it. Joined the club: :( but maybe... some day... :joystick::pilotfly: Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Pilotasso Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 The costs of development for such small countries is counterproductive since you can buy aircraft for a fraction of the cost of a development program, because in the end you will never buy enough airframes to payback the investiment. Indias LCA or the Chinese FC-1 falls in the same category of the plane shown above. The Canadian case is totaly different. Even more when they were forced to buy unreliable Bomarc missiles and the Convair voodoo wich IMHO wasnt half the plane the Arrow was. .
nscode Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Not if you make such a nice airplane and people buy it from you. And in NA's case politicians didn't directly scrap the projet... they just scraped the whole country :D :( No chance for it now. Especially when the most likely buyer (Iraq) doesn't have much freedom of choice any more. Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Pilotasso Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Theres still tawian, Pakistan, india china and a bunch of other mig-21 owners looking forward for a plane of this class. The gripen in many of these cases wont do because they are made with american and british components and the US can vetoe its export. If your country cant develop it its because of economical reasons, your country needs to be rebuilt, like mine did for 30 years, and theres 10 million of us, and no aircraft developed here but UAV's. We actualy have a thriving aeronautics industry and we even manufacture aircraft, only they were not developed here. We simply dont have the money to justify the investiment, we just buy aircraft or aquire them under military treaty such as the F-16's as payment for the usage of the Lajes AB in the Azores. Next payment is to be made with 3 used Perry class frigates!!:puke: Oh BTW we are evaluating the Beriev 200 (I think its that name) Hydroplane tanker for combating forest fires. If they prove handy this summer a contract might follow. .
nscode Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 India will buy Su, taiwan would rather ask usaf to do the entire job, and china would buy 1 and than just copy it :D Anyway, we're use to this happening.. had a plane better than spitfire before WWII, but only a dosen or so and all destroyed in the first days of war... Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
GGTharos Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Better? How do you know? ;) Anyway, the Arrow was not all it was cracked up to be (Disclaimer: I am Canadian) but it did have a whole bunch of oomph ... it was -not- however, the miracle plane people make it out to be. It had a -lot- of problems. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Pilotasso Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Yeah, but the voodoo looks like a lame duck next to it, it was realy a waste. If I was a candian I would be probably be quite pissed. .
GGTharos Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Don't worry ... we are :P Do you know that the work on Iroquis was later used in the SR-71 engines? :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
nscode Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Better? How do you know? ;) So say the pilots who've flown both ;) Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
GGTharos Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 See F-16 vs. F-18 threads by pilots who have 'flown them both' ... ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Jester_159th Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 .. had a plane better than spitfire before WWII, but only a dosen or so and all destroyed in the first days of war... Just out of interest, which plane are you referring to?

Stealth_HR Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Joined the club: :( but maybe... some day... :joystick::pilotfly: Finally an image of the Novi Avion... been looking for this one for quite a while. Correct me if I'm wrong, NScode, but it was supposed to perform a bit like the Gripen, right? At least, according to the few articles I've found online. nscode Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Here's a deep underground site where you can find lots of stuff: 66.249.85.99 ;) Actually, it's more like Rafal.. It was supposed to have voice recognition. Actually, that part was finished & working I think. Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
emenance Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 if Iran has Russina planes then Isreal has F16's yeah its got to be about the trip. Isreal is buddy buddy with the USA so they have the best. Whay not? If it was someone else even though bla bla an effecient fighter is going to be on the make love not war Euopeon agenda. Not to say the reast of the world is just all out for long range conventional warfar. Stealth_HR Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 Here's a deep underground site where you can find lots of stuff: 66.249.85.99 ;) Hmm. An underground site indeed. Full of information, too. :) Actually, it's more like Rafal.. It was supposed to have voice recognition. Actually, that part was finished & working I think. That would be an interesting feature - it'd be a very practical step towards HOTAS flight without having to include an actual HOTAS setup. nscode Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 At first setup was to be side stick (like in F-16), but later on there were thoughts of moving it back to center stick, since tests at VMA (Military Medical Academy, Belgrade) have shown that it's more intuitive that way or smthing :) Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
