HarSu Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Hi there. Question about SAS panel, and the more thoroughly the magnetic switches operating principles. Are these switches acting individually or whether they are working so that if a problem occurs with hydraulic or electrical side, all the switches are switched off? Are they individually? Or will they work in pairs? Or is it so that all the switches are switched off at the same time? I hope you understand what I mean ... My intention is to make my own version of the "magnetic switch" with small solenoids, but if each of those switches work individually, I am running out of space. HarSu.
Mike Powell Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 As far as I know, magnetically held switches are hermetically sealed, individual toggle switches like these Honeywell units: http://www.digikey.com/catalog/en/partgroup/et-series/26208 Mike Powell www.mikesflightdeck.com www.mikesflightdeckbooks.com
bnepethomas Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Hi HarSu - They work individually, although if you haven't had your aircraft destroyed by SAMs or AAA (I must be a SAM magnet), and return to base successfully, and perform a graceful shutdown they all shut off yes together. Cheers Peter
HarSu Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 Hi HarSu - They work individually, although if you haven't had your aircraft destroyed by SAMs or AAA (I must be a SAM magnet), and return to base successfully, and perform a graceful shutdown they all shut off yes together. Cheers Peter Hi Peter. - And thanks for info. OK, so that was not good news to me. The panel below is not enough space for easy installation, so then they have to do the hard way. I'm not going to invest $ 6000 on those switches. HarSu.
Duckling Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Hi Harsu. 6k ? I know the cost increased a bit throgh the years but I got them for 50$ a piece some years back. - - - -
agrasyuk Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) Magnetic switches indeed cost a fortune. I went with circuit breakers, low amp rated and that look like regular toggle. In order to trip rhe switch high current circuit is closed via darlington transistor cascade. Those breakers are also not very cheap though http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1630169&postcount=50 Guss, the ET switches are in my ebay searchlist I haven't seen them for less then triple digit price Edited March 20, 2015 by agrasyuk Anton.
