When spooling down the MiG-15 engine, you will notice an annoying sound, like someone has left a tool withing the engine.

I would like to know what causes that noise. I bet it's another awesome detail, Belsimtek has put into this module :)

Its pretty realistic, sadly only the Mig15 has it.

This sound is made by the blades of the turbine, since they are only completely fixed in position if they are spinning.

So once the RPM is too slow, the blades can move a little litte bit, and thats the sound you hear.

btw. this sound can be heard at any airport worldwide. Every plane makes that noise.

Cheers

Ha :D

Never noticed it in real life anyway, maybe because most airshows I attend are oldtimer airshow without jets.

Saw a MiG-15 once in the Netherlands though, but too far away from parking slot.

Yep. Here's a good video how the blades are fixed and why they might rattle a bit:

The locking pin prevents them from moving fore and aft, but there's still a bit room to move up/down and sideways.

Interesting. I assume rattling is simulated a bit too loud in DCS then.

Oh the sound is pretty loud in real life as well. Here's how it sounds on Hawk during shutdown. Listen at the end of the video:
