Airway Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 When spooling down the MiG-15 engine, you will notice an annoying sound, like someone has left a tool withing the engine. I would like to know what causes that noise. I bet it's another awesome detail, Belsimtek has put into this module :)
Badger1-1 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Its pretty realistic, sadly only the Mig15 has it. This sound is made by the blades of the turbine, since they are only completely fixed in position if they are spinning. So once the RPM is too slow, the blades can move a little litte bit, and thats the sound you hear. btw. this sound can be heard at any airport worldwide. Every plane makes that noise. Cheers HeTzeR 1
zaelu Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 It's actually a relaxing sound :) mission accomplished... all OK. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
Airway Posted March 15, 2015 Author Posted March 15, 2015 Ha :D Never noticed it in real life anyway, maybe because most airshows I attend are oldtimer airshow without jets. Saw a MiG-15 once in the Netherlands though, but too far away from parking slot.

Here's a good video how the blades are fixed and why they might rattle a bit: The locking pin prevents them from moving fore and aft, but there's still a bit room to move up/down and sideways.
SAM77 Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 That guy does awesome vids!!!! Spoiler Intel i7 14700F | 64GB G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB | MSI RTX 4060 Gaming X 8G | WD Black SN770 2TB | Sound Blaster Audigy RX | MSI B760 Tomahawk WIFI | Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS Flight Pack | TrackIR 5 | Windows 11 Home |
Airway Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 Interesting. I assume rattling is simulated a bit too loud in DCS then.
