Patriot Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Ooooo!! Cool!! It's best choice for CNC! But, for one panel need in 3 files: backplate, middleplate and frontplate. Maybe the front panel is to be separated from engraving inscriptions.. Lars Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 (edited) I designed my panels as a one piece acrylic plate and one backplate. But it should be no problem to make a DXF. file of the acrylic back. Can someone try it out and upload a picture ? Would be nice to see the result, still waiting on my CNC from chiiiiiiiiina...Complete EXT INT Light panel.rar Edited October 8, 2015 by Lars
ClayM Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Thanks Lars! Here's a pic for you. I think we can definitely work with these. It required some conversions in CamBam (Splines to Arcs) but it wasn't to difficult. I'm new to the entire cad/cam/cnc thing. I've only had my made in china 3040 for a few weeks. But I easily managed to get this through cam and into Mach3. The cut time on this panel for me was 1 hour 28 minutes and 15120 lines of G-code! Thanks again Lars Clay
Lars Posted October 9, 2015 Author Posted October 9, 2015 Looks very good Clay. Im going offshore for 5 days. Will release the rest of the panels when I come home in about 9 days. Thank you for the picture. ( holes for switches are made for honeywell btw)
ClayM Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Just noticed something Lars On the ext/intr lights panel. the position switch should be center off. with the "OFF" positioned vertically to the right of the switch. at least i think so??? Thanks Clay

Lars Posted October 9, 2015 Author Posted October 9, 2015 Oops, That is true Clay. That is why I ask for feedback so I can correct foults like that. I will fix asap.
Deadman Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 (edited) Lars one more for you FORMATION not FLASH over the center top pot. YOu might want to add the small + wile your at it located above the FLOOD lower left on the panel above the D may be 10 mm more or less Edited October 9, 2015 by Deadman https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Deadman Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Ya no problem just don't tell https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
ClayM Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Lars I should have mentioned in my earlier post. I'm still working on getting fonts cut correctly. From what I have been told we should be using stick fonts in our drawings. That way they engrave correctly. If you are also buying a Cnc you should check out my CNC by trial and error thread. Might explains better then I have done here. Thanks again for the .dxf files. Saves a bunch steps for me. Clay
metalnwood Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I still dont know where you got that info from Clay but I dont know anyone using stick fonts for engraving? You will severely limit your options and it's just not necessary.
agrasyuk Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 While it might be true for rotary engravers ( no hands on experience there) the non "stick" fonts as drawn above are usable with laser machines . Anton. My pit build thread . Simple and cheap UFC project
Lars Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 Starting to get there. Doing some last fine-tuning on my panels and I am also creating a complete sett of knobs for the panels. -Lars
ClayM Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Lars DXF files would really help me out! Thanks Clay
Lars Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 All panels will be released in DXF when they are ready.
Patriot Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 All panels will be released in DXF when they are ready. I even ordered a CNC for that! :))) My cockpit A-10C Строю кокпит A-10C i7 7700k, 32Gb RAM, SSD NVMe, GTX 1080, Hotas Warthog, HTC Vive. ----------------- With love from Russia
