Most of the time ;)

I should add to that.... Unless you are in multiplayer. Then basically anyone within 100 meters of your Black Shark is considered enemy.

how can I know if a target is an enemy or friend ?

do I have to visually remember what friend or foe looks like ?

Not only should you learn what friend or foe looks like, target recognition contributes to what tactics or weapons you use. Knowing the difference between an MTLB and an SA-13 is very important. A normal MTLB is just a troop carrier with a machine gun on top. The SA-13 is an MTLB equipped with IR-guided SAM's. (When the launcher is in its stowed position, it looks more like an MTLB carrying some cargo on top, and not at all like a SAM vehicle; this misidentification could be deadly for you)

Big difference in how you should prioritize these targets, and how close you want to get to destroy it. How close you want to get (or not want to get) may determine what weapon you use, etc, etc.

Afterburners are for wussies...hang around the battlefield and dodge tracers like a man.
