Aviar Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I'm a DCS noob and I was curious about a command I saw in the Cockpit Views section called Save Cockpit Angles. I had no idea what it was and while I was looking around I pressed the command. Well, it messed up my forward cockpit view (F1). (See screenshot) I can't get my default F1 view back. Any suggestions? Isegrim Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) Use it again when looking Forward (There where you like to look by default). EDIT: You have to look ingame forward, not in front of your PC if you use track ir or something like this. Also you can delete the Snapviews.lua ( *your username*/Savedgames/DCS/Config/View) Edited March 24, 2015 by Isegrim "Blyat Naaaaa" - Izlom
Aviar Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) I can't. This is my default view when I start a mission. It is also now my F1 view (the view you want me to use). So you see I'm in a real bind (no pun intended). I can't 'look forward' like you want me to. That's my problem. Also, I don't use TrackIR. Did I really mess up bad here? I've been trying for hours to try and fix this but I think I made a real boo boo. Also, I can't find ( *your username*/Savedgames/DCS/Config/View). I never made a username so I don't know what folder this is in. Can you give me the full path? If I delete this file my problem will be fixed? Aviar Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Thanks. I deleted that file and it seemed to have fixed my problem. Man, that is one dangerous command. I won't be using it anymore. shagrat Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 It is very useful if you use a triple monitor setup, or you want to save your own snap views to better have a close look at certain consoles quickly... If you know what other commands are used to move the in-cockpit view freely, that is... :D Good you managed to find the snapview.lua Another such "unexpected command" is LShift+R at least if you find out after a lengthy startup and approach in an A-10C... shagrat Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 That option is available in the menu since quite a while. Look for "enable custom snapviews"... Shaman Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 It's very useful option. F. E. Try to zoom in field of view inside cockpit on some airplanes angles are centered below HUD. Adjust your view up, zoom out, and use Save Cockpit Angles key. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
Home Fries Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I use it quite a bit. For aircraft that don't default with you looking directly at the HUD (including the P-51), I'll adjust the view so that the HUD is centered. That way, when I zoom in I'm zooming directly on the HUD, which is useful when dogfighting and it doesn't require me to hold my head slightly up with TrackIR. Check out my TARGET profile (in my sig) if you're interested. Even if you don't have a Cougar, you can still use the included "boresight" SnapViews. -Home Fries My DCS Files and Skins My DCS TARGET Profile for Cougar or Warthog and MFDs F-14B LANTIRN Guide
