arriflex Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Hey guys- started up DCS and TrackIr and for some reason I am zoomed in more than I used to be at the default setting/neutral Trackir setting. This is in all aircraft. Any ideas why this might have changed and if there is a way to set it back to the slightly wider FOV?
Palmput Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 I haven't checked out the view controls too closely, but I know that you can zoom out and in with the Num / and * keys respectively by default. arriflex Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 They are not working for me, which I found weird.......
arriflex Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 So, update- you know how your view starts a little tight and slowly zooms out when getting into a plane? Mine either starts zooming out and snaps back tight or doesnt zoom out at all.
derekb1948 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 You have to go to your "Server" (LUA) file (.../Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Config/View/Server) and look for all lines that read "Camera View Angle Limits" and change second value (usually "120") to "140" or even "150" to increase the field-of-view angle in the cockpit. You might have to open the Server file "Properties" and authorise yourself to make changes to the file, first. Some later aircraft have a different location where the changes must be made - e.g. the Mig21 , where you go to : ...DCS World/Mods/Aircraft/Mig21bis/Entry(File folder - not LUA File)/03_Views . Open this file and change the "Camera View Angle Limits" to (say) 140. I think it is, by default, 105. Hopefully this will work for you as it did for me.

arriflex Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 I liked the FOV when it zoomed out before- is there a way to get that working again as opposed to messing with LUAs?
arriflex Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 Update- tried the above linked method- doesnt work after setup and trackir enabled.
aceviper Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Pause Track IR....default zoom in and out should work then..set your zoom...unpause.
arriflex Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 When unpausing trackir it snaps right back to the tighter zoom.
Art-J Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 I'll try to help, even though I admit I prefer the "tight" view, as You put it, and always wait for the zoom-out-pop-back-in sequence before doing anything in the cockpit. I've noticed, though, when my TrackIR is not on, the view stays wide, which seems to be what You're after? I haven't messed with .luas and whatnot, just have all zoom axes in my DCS modules mapped to TrackIR Z axis only, no sliders, buttons, rotaries etc. By analogy I presume You might get the always-wide view by fiddling with zoom and longitudinal movement vs. TIR controls in game settings. Did You install latest beta update of the game? Maybe something has changed in controls there. That's where I'd start looking. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Blooze Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Try going to your Saved Games/DCS folder and deleting the VIEW folder. That will return all views to default. If that works you may have to re-do any saved snap views if you have them. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Tone71 Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 (edited) Sounds to me like you have your TrackIR z axis mapped to zoom. Check your axis settings. Edit: unless of course you want it mapped to zoom in which case try leaning forward a bit, hit "centre TrackIR" key, then when you lean back again it'll zoom out. I guess you'll have to edit LUAs to change the default zoom that you get when you centre your TrackIR. iFoxRomeo Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Check that the TrackIR software is running. Pause TrackIR so that both red lights are on. Start DCS(that means DCS wasn´t already running. Don´t Alt+Tab in this case). Go to the mission editor and set the desired aircraft on the map and set it to takeoff from ramp. Press the green hook to start the "mission" (not necessary to save this complex mission) Once inside the aircraft interrupt the zoom out by pressing Num*, then press NumEnter for the default FOV and Num5 for default head position. With Num* and Num/ you set your desired FOV. Then you can set your desired head position with RShift+RCtr pressed plus Num(2,4,6,8,*,/). If you´re unhappy with the FOV and/or HP you can reset with Num5 to default headposition and NumEnter to default FOV. Once your desired FOV and headposition is achieved, press RAlt+Num0. Now this is the default HeadPos and FOV that you can recall by pressing NumEnter and Num5. (MiG-15 currently doesn´t save this position permanently in multiplayer). Center TrackIR. Unpause TrackIR. Have fun. If you messed up your default FOV and/or head position completely and want to reset it the simple way, delete "SnapViews.lua". It´s located in x:\Users\"your name"\Saved Games\DCS\Config\View But this will reset all your views in DCS. Fox Spoiler PC Specs: Ryzen 9 5900X, 3080ti, 64GB RAM, Oculus Quest 3
