Laobi Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Hello all, I installed DCS about a year ago and have been a lurker here for a while. I would love to get involved in a squadron, but I don't want to be "that" player who through their lack of knowledge and experience slows down the whole process and spoils the fun for others playing. I've a few questions: 1: Are there squadrons out there who welcome complete noobs? 2: Due to similar timezones and life committments are there any Squadrons in the UK/Ireland/Northern Europe (or squardons from anywhere else who maybe work odd hours) which are fairly noob friendly? 3: I am practicing startups, take offs, landings and weapons tutorials (still rotten at CCRP). What other things should I be working on so as not to be a total pain in the arse for any potential squadron buddies? Thank you in advance, all advice is very much appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you all. This is the imaginary fear that keeps many from enjoying the best part of this sim.....coop mutiplayer activity with a group. Just jump in with both feet. After all......what's the worst that could happen? Edited April 4, 2015 by Blooze [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
King_Hrothgar Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Hop on 104th server, it's typically the most populated and though theoretically a versus server, the ground attack element is mostly a coop type mission. It has tons of A-10 and Ka-50 drivers on there at all times of the day/night. Most are happy to help with tactics and more advanced features such as ID numbers, datalinks and countermeasures. Just be sure you can start the thing up and do at least some form of attack on your own, even if it's just mavericks and dumb bombs/rockets. Most of the people on there are fairly regular too, so although it isn't an official squad, if you turn up each night for an hour or two, you'll quickly get to know a few people there.

Good group of guys.

Laobi Posted April 8, 2015 Author Posted April 8, 2015 Thank you all very much for the kind suggestions and invites. As time was rather limited this week I jumped in on the Tuesday night noob session on Hoggit and found the people there really helpful and the server a great place to practice. As time permits I shall look at all your suggestions carefully. Laobi Every person had to have their "introductory" phase to the online community. Never let anyone call you "that" player because at one time they were "that" player themselves. I have been playing online for years and when I hop into a new airframe I am "that" player. You are not alone. I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. "Off with his job" Mr Burns on the Simpsons. "I've seen steering wheels / arcade sticks / flight sticks for over a hundred dollars; why be surprised at a 150 dollar item that includes the complexities of this controller?! It has BLINKY LIGHTS!!" author unknown. These titles are listed in the chronological order I purchased them. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
joebloggs Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I'm in my 30's and I'm looking to hook up with a squad. So given my age which squads would be best?
