At least the replay did not show any weird crash landing. Thanks for the info.

The place is a good spot to learn how to land the Flanker without using the drogue chute, and having fun.

I hope we'll see more "best landings" attempts in that thread!

Well my "best" landing was when i landed with my gear up on my pylons very smoothly, and managed to take off again. Lowered my gear and landed safely:)

But nice job, anyway. Much better than some I've done. :)

Thank you. I've learned a lot lot from your videos back in Flaming Cliffs days They are still very useful- when my Better Half started flying Su-25T and had some troubles with landing I gave her link to your tutorials. Helped a lot:]

Lucky man. Wish my Better Half was interested in this sim. :) It'd simplify my life greatly.

FWIW, here's my entry. This is the short version of a longer sequence with voiceover on my Flankertraining.com YouTube channel. Don't know if it's my best but any successful deadstick landing is very satisfying:

You can find the full version here: YouTube Flankertraining.com Channel.

Deadsticking the Flanker is always fun, very forgiving aircraft in that regard, glides for days.

out of curiosity, why did you keep the centerline store? I usually dump it all if i'm landing with no/low fuel.

Smoke pods, it turns out, can't be jettisoned... :) ...and I didn't want to take the time to fly it again.

Hi Everyone,

Here's my track from a practice sortie I created but I was able to land at Nalchik with no brake parachute deployed and minimal braking.

I flew the approach at 290/300 Km/Hr with Speed Brake out.

Enjoy

here we go, managed to make an improvement over my first posting: held the glideslope better once i inserted, touched down on the right-hand side of the runway, and did so firmly within the TDZ as shown by the tire marks.

Nice! Out of interest, what software packages are people using to record these videos?

I have an nVidia graphics card, and the ShadowPlay feature that came out last year for nVidia drivers allows me to capture with no detectable loss of framerate.

Maybe not quite in the spirit of the thread, but 250km/h on the skid marks (having posted - might need full screen HD to see anything :-) ...)

Ah right, I'll have to give that a try to see how my 760Ti performs at capturing video footage. Looks pretty good from your video...

Depending on the situation, I use either the sim's AVI recorder or Dxtory to record directly from the track. Dxtory alone (obviously), if I need to record directly while flying.

Very kind of you to say so.

Not kindness at all. :) Truth.

Very smooth touch-down. Congratulations!

It didn't even wake the baby (or the nitroglycerin) sleeping on your knees.

Next step could be to attempt a Rafale demo landing («posé sur retournement») ;)

(@ 8:17") (sorry the commentary is in french)

(another view)

Nice one too, Weta  It's always challenging to land softly, right after a turn. (next step: John Derry turn and land?)

Nice, very smooth. What was the touchdown speed out of interest?

Nice! I need to work on my landings... My touchdown speed is usually 280-310 Kmh which is a bit fast...
