Bourrinopathe Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 At least the replay did not show any weird crash landing. Thanks for the info. The place is a good spot to learn how to land the Flanker without using the drogue chute, and having fun. I hope we'll see more "best landings" attempts in that thread! /// ВКБ: GF Pro MkII+MCG Pro/GF MkII+SCG L/Black Mamba MkIII/Gladiator/T-Rudder MkII | X-55 Rhino throttle/Saitek Throttle Quadrant | OpenTrack+UTC /// ZULU +4 /// /// "THE T3ASE": i9 9900K | 64 GB DDR4 | RTX 2080ti OC | 2 TB NVMe SSDs, 1 TB SATA SSD, 12 TB HDDs | Gigabyte DESIGNARE mobo ///
wasserfall Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Well my "best" landing was when i landed with my gear up on my pylons very smoothly, and managed to take off again. Lowered my gear and landed safely:) Intel Core i5-9600K, Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO, 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 WINDFORCE 8G

Ironhand Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 (edited) FWIW, here's my entry. This is the short version of a longer sequence with voiceover on my Flankertraining.com YouTube channel. Don't know if it's my best but any successful deadstick landing is very satisfying: You can find the full version here: YouTube Flankertraining.com Channel. ShuRugal Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 Deadsticking the Flanker is always fun, very forgiving aircraft in that regard, glides for days. out of curiosity, why did you keep the centerline store? I usually dump it all if i'm landing with no/low fuel.
Ironhand Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 ... ...out of curiosity, why did you keep the centerline store? I usually dump it all if i'm landing with no/low fuel. Smoke pods, it turns out, can't be jettisoned... :) ...and I didn't want to take the time to fly it again. ruddy122 Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Hi Everyone, Here's my track from a practice sortie I created but I was able to land at Nalchik with no brake parachute deployed and minimal braking. I flew the approach at 290/300 Km/Hr with Speed Brake out. ShuRugal Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 here we go, managed to make an improvement over my first posting: held the glideslope better once i inserted, touched down on the right-hand side of the runway, and did so firmly within the TDZ as shown by the tire marks.

ShuRugal Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 I have an nVidia graphics card, and the ShadowPlay feature that came out last year for nVidia drivers allows me to capture with no detectable loss of framerate.
Weta43 Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 (edited) Maybe not quite in the spirit of the thread, but 250km/h on the skid marks (having posted - might need full screen HD to see anything :-) ...) Edited May 3, 2015 by Weta43 Cheers.

Ironhand Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Nice! Out of interest, what software packages are people using to record these videos? Depending on the situation, I use either the sim's AVI recorder or Dxtory to record directly from the track. Dxtory alone (obviously), if I need to record directly while flying. Very kind of you to say so. Not kindness at all. :) Truth. Very smooth touch-down. Congratulations! It didn't even wake the baby (or the nitroglycerin) sleeping on your knees. Next step could be to attempt a Rafale demo landing («posé sur retournement») ;) (@ 8:17") (sorry the commentary is in french) (another view) Nice one too, Weta  It's always challenging to land softly, right after a turn. (next step: John Derry turn and land?) /// ВКБ: GF Pro MkII+MCG Pro/GF MkII+SCG L/Black Mamba MkIII/Gladiator/T-Rudder MkII | X-55 Rhino throttle/Saitek Throttle Quadrant | OpenTrack+UTC /// ZULU +4 /// /// "THE T3ASE": i9 9900K | 64 GB DDR4 | RTX 2080ti OC | 2 TB NVMe SSDs, 1 TB SATA SSD, 12 TB HDDs | Gigabyte DESIGNARE mobo ///
CHRISXTR3M3 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Smooth landing ShuRugal  Congratz! And I didn't see the nozzles plowing the runway. BTW, what is the maximum pitch angle to avoid paying the bill? I usually try to stay below 12° (aiming for 10°). The next level could be a cobra landing on the Kuznetsov (with a Su-27) ;) I'm one step closer to doing that http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=142978 User Files for AV8-B, X55
