Sierra99 Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Gents, A.) Has anyone used a commercially availablele Hall Sensor rotary pot in rebuilding a Stick or Throttle And 2.) Will a curved magnet have the same effect on a Hall sensor as moving a straight magnet back and forth across one. Scendore Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 In short yes. There were a couple Mods specifically made for the Cougar which use Hall Sensors. They are no longer being made but it can be done.
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 IIRC, the cougar mods used commercially available, off the shelf HAL sensors. They were rather expensive. Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
doveman Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 What's the justification for those expensive hall sensors, rather than the two for £3 I just bought? Sokol1_br Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) The one used in Cougar mod's is Midori - think that for automotive industry. http://www.midoriamerica.com/pdf/QP-2HC.pdf China supplier: http://detail.1688.com/offer/1102874569.html Argon-V in SimHQ forum know a US reseller for Midori QP-2HC HALL sensor, that if I remember correct cost around 80$. Or try find this spec on Google. I see a comment in Russian forum that this one is not good in joystick. http://www.potentiometers.com/HRS100.cfm Edited May 1, 2015 by Sokol1_br
Sierra99 Posted May 1, 2015 Author Posted May 1, 2015 Let me restate the question... 1.) Has anyone found a reasonably priced off the shelf Hall sensor potentiometer and successfully used one to modify or rebuild a joystick or throttle? B.) Will using a curved magnet have the same effect on a Hall pot as a string of straight magnets? I'm not opposed to buying parts and experimenting, but I loath reinventing the wheel if I can avoid it. Sokol1_br Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) 1) Dont find any COTS HALL Sensor (pot' like) at reasonable price. :) 2) This? http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2308100&postcount=14 http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4098966/Re:_MMJoy_-_Build_your_own_USB#Post4098966 Edited May 2, 2015 by Sokol1_br
