Flogger23m Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Thinking of making a new livery for DCS and decided to try the Eagle Dynamics ModelViewer.exe located in Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin. How am I supposed to use it? Clicking on the .exe files does absolutely nothing. Is there something else I am supposed to download?
GeorgeLKMT Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Yes, you need to run it via batch file. Open notepad, type: bin\ModelViewer.exe save as modelviewer.bat to your DCS install folder and run. ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■
Flogger23m Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) Thanks, got it to load & imported my livery. How would I load individual animations? Edit: Also can't seem to mount textures anymore. Did it the first time. Is there a readme for how to apply textures aside from the default one? Edited May 23, 2015 by Flogger23m
GeorgeLKMT Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) Use the slider up there with Arg# textbox where you put the number of animation you need to tweak (see attached pdf). There's also a button for playing all at once and animation player somewhere in the menu. To change a texture, go view->dialogs->show liveries dialogs, assuming the model you're painting has entry in default liveries folder (DCS World\Bazar\Liveries). If it does not (like C-101, Mig-21...), you have to put the textures in TempTextures folder in DCS World\Bazar\Draw arguments for aircrafts 1.1.pdf Edited May 23, 2015 by GeorgeLKMT ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■
Buzzles Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) If it does not (like C-101, Mig-21...), you have to put the textures in TempTextures folder in DCS World\Bazar\ No you don't, and that's potentially a bad thing to do as you'll be duplicating texture sets accross your install. What you want to do is edit the autoexec.lua located in: .../DCS World/Config/ModelViewer/autoexec.luaAll you need to do then is add more mounting paths, like so: mount_vfs_liveries_path("C:/Users/[username]/Saved Games/DCS/Liveries") mount_vfs_liveries_path("CoreMods/aircraft/MiG-21BIS/Liveries") mount_vfs_liveries_path("CoreMods/aircraft/F-86/Liveries") mount_vfs_liveries_path("CoreMods/aircraft/C-101/Liveries") The [username] for your local liveries will obviously be your pc log in, ie: "C:/Users/John/Saved Games/DCS/Liveries". To be honest, this information could do with sticky-ing. Edited May 23, 2015 by Buzzles 1 Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!

Flogger23m Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 I can't figure out how to load it anymore. Worked fine for a few weeks until today. Now it doesn't load... the two tabs open in the task bar, the .bat runs, but the actual window to view the model never appears. My video card does clock up as does my CPU meaning it is running at least partially. How do I fix this? Don't want to keep DCS open because that is more of a pain and the recent build crashes every other time you load it.
GeorgeLKMT Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 That happens sometimes, maximize the window. ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■
Flogger23m Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 That happens sometimes, maximize the window. Via Task Manager. Had to try it 5-6 times and exit the program a few times. Eventually it sorted itself out. One other question. Is there a way to unlock the view from having a center? Makes viewing certain parts a bit difficult as by default the camera just focuses on the center.
GeorgeLKMT Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 (edited) You can move around with Shift+RMB (right mouse button). Shift+LMB also rotates the model if needed. And next time, you can maximize with windows key+up arrow or hover over the taskbar icon to see the aero preview (if enabled) and right click. :) Edited June 10, 2015 by GeorgeLKMT ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■
