pepto Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 is the track clip pro honestly worth the 30 dollars? is there a difference with the two? my biggest problem with trackir is when the clip exits the tracking field, does the track clip pro help with that? im also reluctant considering the fact that i've lost count of all the times i've heard "my track clip pro broke" :P
cichlidfan Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) In my experience, it is better in problematic lighting conditions. I also think it has less of a tendency to lose track when you are looking up and down, but that could be my imagination. As far as the breakage issue, yes it is very fragile. I have broken one, but I have two others that have not been broken yet. However, to avoid the fragility issue, buy a Delan clip instead (I have one of these also). http://www.delanengineering.com/ Edited July 13, 2015 by cichlidfan ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! kontiuka Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 I just have the regular clip and it works fine and you don't really have to worry about it breaking. I've had to play with the TrackIR movement settings a bit to find the sweet spot but all in all, I'm satisfied.
HOKUM52 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 First thing to do before you buy it is consider mounting the sensor further back from your monitor or higher. You could try a camera tripod or some other retro fitted mount . Then it can see a bit more. I Bought the track clip pro but after using the normal clip i've never even used the pro clip once. My lighting is good and i hate the fact you have to plug it in via usb. Waste of +30 extra quid for me.
TomOnSteam Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 I'd get a delan clip. It's metal :) http://www.delanengineering.com/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cockpit Spectator Mode
Corbett1403 Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Trackir standard clip or track clip pro? Oculus rift should end this problem soon
EntropySG Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 I'd get a delan clip. It's metal :) http://www.delanengineering.com/ +1, I have that one too and am very happy with it. It can be easily mounted to any headset. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
kingpinda Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Oculus rift should end this problem soon nah... 4k Oculus rift yes. But not the first consumer rift. I think the resolution will be too low as of yet for competitive "game" play in these high fidelity crates.
Mr_Burns Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Im considering a pro because my track clip can be very tempramental - it loses the track, makes me look behind me, i have to sit very close to keep it stable and then sometime i just get 2 red light on the track ir and it stops all together. I do have a ceiling light behind me but its pretty dull energy saving one. Thiank imgoing to make my own though to see if its better, its p155ed nme off so mych Ive reverted to the POV Hat before because it starts juttering as I lookd down into the cockpit to prepare my weapons or look at the targeting pod.
