Sorry for typo, I mean ZPU-23

 

I will like to have a ZPU-2 on my installation, for that I will like to know If is possible to "clone" the ZPU-23 as I want to use it's 3d model but using the ZPU-2 properties, including a smaller caliber gun.

 

Is that even possible?

Hi Stratos,

 

this should do the trick,

activate this MOD with JSMGE

 

It does not replace the default ZSU-23, it is an addition.

 

I've changed the caliber with 7.62 rounds as far as we do not have the real ZPU-2 in DCS. (i know it possible to create custom caliber, but don't know how to)

 

You can play with calibers at line 55 of ZPU-2.lua

I think Stratos is confusing terms. The ZPU-23 don't exist, has ZU-23-2, know by ZU-23. Only ZPU-1/-2/-4 has that nomenclature.

 

the ZPU main weapon as 14.5 KPV machine gun. That has present on DCS: W by BRMD-2, BTR-80 main armament cannon.

That was really fast! but I cannot see where the new AAA is in the mission editor, I mean I cannot see it in the lists for Air Defense units.

Is it possible to increase it's range? So that it fires really high?

Like AAA on pictures from Gulf War 1?

I guess it could be possible by tweaking lua values.

 

I cannot see it in the lists for Air Defense units.

I think the Baghdad AAA on the GW1 was medium to high altitude AAA, more as ZPU-1/2/3 and ZU-23 low altitude guns.

 

You need make Mods and ammunition to:

 

-M-1939(61-K) 37mm Gun

-ZSU-57-2 / S-60 57mm gun (the never release Beczl MOD).

-KS-19 100 mm gun

And associate fire control units.

 

The main problem of that Medium / Heavy Anti Air calibre guns, has actually DCS: W has no implemented a effective architecture to use them properly (Lack of proximity and time destruction fuses, bullet fragmentation, and radar / optical anti-air fire control to heavy guns).

Works as a charm now!! Thanks a lot Lilkiki!! I think is a very nice little mod that adds varierty to the air defenses one can found on a mission!

I just thought about something crazy:

 

I think some SAMs explode when they lose contact to their target.

SAMs do make explosions with black smoke and so on.

 

Can we create a AAA gun as a mod that has the following properties:

- Looks like a big gun

- has a radar

- has a really bad sensor so it looses radar contact very quickly

- shoots invisible SAMs (or ones that look like artillery shells)

- its SAMs have really bad steering so they basically fly only in a straight line

- its SAMs do a nice bit of splash damage when they explode

 

 

Don't know if this is possible, I haven't worked with DCSW lua much yet.
