Updating to 1.5.3 again, that downgrade for more playtime was totally worth it, NO REGRETS!

In Map Version 4.3

 

Scenery Objective

 

  • Added a new type of objective: Scenery Objective
  • Scenery objectives involve scenery objects, meaning objects I don't place and that are already there in the map
  • If it's working as intented, this will allow me to add more content without adding more objects and just use the actual map
  • Examples: Train Station, bridges...
  • Due to the way scenery objects work, the objective completion computation is still in progress

 

Objective Recon Smokes

 

  • Fix some problem with smoke respawn
  • Marking smokes will stop when objective is completed

 

AWACS and EWR

 

  • Each coalition now has a dedicated ground group of Early Warning Radars
  • The EWR data can be accessed thru the datalink or radio like the AWACS
  • AWACS are gone for now and their annoying spam should be too
  • However, the AWACS will spawn again if the EWR groups fail to spawn (like with the map reset spawn bug)
  • The position of the EWR might change if the detection goes too deep in the Conflict area

 

Bomb to Disarm

 

  • Some trucks have been moved to be easier to spot since they are no more on F10 map

Briefing

 

  • Reworked a bit the briefing and added a performance tip section

Mirage 2000 Skins

 

  • Les mirages 2000 ont maintenant differentes peintures

Trying to keep the server fun and casual but still with challenges.

 

This reset, I failed to update but next one I will deploy version 4.3.X

In Map 4.3.5

Map

 

  • Playable L39C have been changed to L39ZA
  • Fix some smoke placements to be more visible
  • Ammo bunkers have been replaced with ammo tanks since the bunkers are mysteriously hard to kill

 

Masterscript

 

  • Objective report now display the distance in nautical miles instead of regular terrestrial miles
  • Fix an error in 'Objective not defended anymore' that prevented some retaliation convoy to be activated
  • Fix an error in the computation of whether an AI is parked or not (Used to remove it from airport and trigger the respawn system)

 

 

Server Management

 

SLMOD

 

  • Fix all the commands not working since 1.5.3 like stats and admin ones
  • Team-kills or team-hits against spotters will not be an offence anymore since they are very very close to objectives and are easily killed

 

Map Size

 

  • Reduce size of the map file from 2Mo to 900k (compress sounds and resize images)
  • This will decrease upload taken when people join

 

DCS Launcher

 

  • Launcher now supports extended fonts for Chinese and Russian names
  • Launcher export won't be fooled anymore by empty player names given by DCS

Nice changes, especially the bunkers being swapped by something less hardend.

In Map 4.5

 

Train Station Objective

  • Lower the object destroyed count needed for success
  • The enemy will desert hideout sooner :)

Disarm Mission

 

  • Every X sec, the script will trigger quick flares on random bombs still to be disarmed.
  • The less bombs, the more chance for a flare
  • This will help find the bombs without being to obvious
  • This will me creating more crazy content

Aircrafts can now transport stuff

 

  • Every aircraft can now transport stuff
  • Each plane has different transport capabilities divided as follow:
    • Slots in Document Chest to secure documents
    • Seats in Passenger Area to transport passengers
    • Slots in Cargo Hold Area to transport a vast number of stuff

     

    [*]For example:

    • A F15 fighter will be able to secure one documents
    • A MI8 will be able to transport several passengers and a lot of cargo

     

 

Where to pick up cargo?

 

  • Pick-up location can be seen in the custom radio menu
  • For now, they are airports
  • Different types of Cargo / Personnel can be picked-up there.

 

Where to deliver?

 

  • Each side now has a transport objective to help the Khashuri battle
  • Each side have a new FARP that requires cargo and personnel
  • Those FARPs are near straight roads so even airplanes can try those missions
  • Once resupplied, the FARP will be able to send reinforcements to defend Khashuri

 

Plant Explosive!

 

 

  • If your aircraft have free slots in the Cargo Hold Area, you can also pick-up Explosive Pack to plant
  • Once if your cargo, you can fly away, land somewhere and choose to plant the explosive
  • Planting the explosive will spawn a 'mortar' model in front of your plane
  • Fly away and trigger the explosive thought the menu and create mayhem

Well, last time I tried in 1.2, Combined Arms was just opened doors to troll central :)

People would just control SAMs and fire on friendlies or put tanks on the runways before leaving....

 

During this experiment, I've basically seen more trolling than playing with Combined Arms so I removed it. :mad:

 

I am not sure yet if I will take the time to bring it back especially since I don't own it, my tests and developments are thus limited.

Question: Will there be a script allowing you to see troops boarding and un-boarding upon pickup/drop off? (Seen a mission hosted with this feature for rescue operations and troop transported to the front line.)

The only thing you will see is the most important: the consequence on the map, meaning a convoy spawning or reinforcement activating.

 

I prefer to focus on gameplay and don't want to go crazy in realization especially since not everything is working in multiplayer.

Also I want to keep the feature generalized, heli and planes, troops and cargo.

 

Somethings I tried:

* Change the internal weight of the aircraft when it supports it but this feature was not accessible thru script.

* Use the dedicated cargo object but I got too many problems and crashes manipulating it thru script.

This question was prompted off of the immersion of play with the feeling of supporting a role in the mission. That being said, the thought that you could see it was brought up and I thought it could be featured though it is only a minute feature not really contributing to game play.

Nice catch, Texaco callsign was set to Arco.

In Map 4.5.1

 

Tanker

 

  • Texaco callsign has been corrected to actually be Texaco (was Arco for some reason)

 

Objective

 

  • Added a 'destroy bridge' objective for red side

 

Ship & Fleet

 

  • Su33 on Kobuleti's carriers are now based on Kobuleti's aiport
  • All active ships are now gone as a performance test (player carriers as well as protection ships)

Protected Zone

 

  • Increase red side protected zone to cover more of Tbilisi city
  • Duel airports are now covered by mini protected zones instead of ships. Zone response is actually nicer than a missile in the face.

 

Rescue Mission

 

  • Aircrafts that have a passenger area can now embark into rescuing downed pilots
  • When an AI or a player ejects, a downed pilot will be generated and rejoin a safe house
  • Safe houses are, for now, the forward FARPs but more may be added later
  • Player can land next to safe house with downed pilot and pick them up
  • Once picked-up, a downed pilot will need to be transported to a medical center
  • Medical centers are, for now, the main airports but more may be added later

 

AWACS Part 684

 

  • EWR are not enough since you can't apparently contact the system with the radio
  • So..... AWACS are back!
  • We'll just have to wait for a AWACS fix or some kind of options to tweak down auto calls

 

 

Server Management

 

Chat System

 

 

  • Rework the way the server intercept and process chat to fix some problems and maybe some network overuse
  • Server will no longer forward SLMOD commands and screenshot notifications to the clients
  • Server will no longer forward chat lines not starting with '-' to SLMOD command parser
  • SLMOD will now use the actual client list to send notifications and kill log to players (instead of checking every id up to 200 ; should be better for network)
  • Server will add @TEAM and @ALL to received messages so you know how it was sent (The sender wont see those prefixes though)

I don't know what happening, it's been a month or two since I played DCS, but for some reason I can't find Open Conflict on the server list anymore.

Is something happening?

Can you elaborate on those 'anti troll changes'?

 

According to Blitz_USMC (I didn't witness it myself) at least 7 different occasions of intentional team-kill-ramming happend in Senaki due to trolls ramming ppl by diving into them on the ground during the course of only a few (~30) minutes. Several of those by supposedly the same guy, which didn't get autobanned/-kicked for some reason.

 

To be honest, I'm not sure if it really happend and as I said I'm just stating what I've been told, I've never seen more than a single occasion in a row and I've been autokicked for mere lag-ramming on the ground myself before, so I know the system usually works and is quite strict.

 

@ShadowBolt0057: The server is running on the lastest OpenBeta version (1.5.3) right now. Make sure you have the same version, you should be able to see it then.

The anti troll changes is related to players attacking players on spawn spoint.

Some FARPs are now defended and helicopters will no longer have immunity facing AI CAPs.

Player Helis will now be targeted and attacked by the AI fighters.

 

The concern of player ramming:

 

  • The way DCS acts sometimes with lag, I had to lessen the penalty for team collision as random people were kicked left and right for no good reason.
  • Team collision is the hardest event to auto interpret through script
  • Again, I can't police the server alone so please report the incident you encountered with a PM
  • I have logs of everything but I don't look at them all the time but if you give me a name and a time, I can verify what happened
