Mirknir Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 Hey I don't know what happening, it's been a month or two since I played DCS, but for some reason I can't find Open Conflict on the server list anymore. Is something happening? Server is running on 1.5.3 version, what version you using? Mirknir My old server: The Thread
Mirknir Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 In Mission 4.6 Miscellaneous changes Added Kutaisi airport to the Delivery pick-up and Rescue drop-off points Added missing spotter for Tskhinvali base Added more safe house in the conflict zone to go pick-up downed pilots (Sage house are using bunker model) Added a blue objective to go destroy Poti bridges to cut off the enemy city from Senali Reformated some on-screen messages on the custom radio menu Mirknir My old server: The Thread
ShadowBolt0057 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 ah thanks guys much appreciated have missed playing on the server and will be on tomorrow ^^
Razgriz_37 Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Some FARPs are now defended and helicopters will no longer have immunity facing AI CAPs. Player Helis will now be targeted and attacked by the AI fighters. Sounds familiar eh Anna?:hehe:
Anna Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Sounds familiar eh Anna?:hehe: I feel like I'm the sole reason for that change... :P
DSauer Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I've played on your server a couple of times in the past few days and have had a pretty good time except that the red side MIG-21s cannot talk to their side's AWACS which makes accomplishing any sort of Air-to-Air in them somewhat frustrating. Can you check to make sure that the red side Migs have the correct radio frequencies programmed into them? Usually channel zero is used to talk to the AWACS.

Can you check to make sure that the red side Migs have the correct radio frequencies programmed into them? Usually channel zero is used to talk to the AWACS. I don't know how to fix that, there are a lot of problem with the mig21 and the AWACS and even some differences between a cold and HOT mig21. In the map, red or blue, AWACS are set to 124MHz AM and every mig21 too like it's said here http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2189902&postcount=8 Also, I don't see any place in the Mission Editor for changing radio channels in the Mig21 ; I see it in the L39 for example, but not in the mig21. I have no clue what to try next, don't hesitate if you have more information. As a side note, I don't own the mig21 so I am not sure if it's a factor. Mirknir My old server: The Thread
Anna Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) I just got my pay a few days early, expect donation in the next few minutes! :D EDIT: Need to make a Paypal account, should have one anyway... EDIT2: Argh, they now want to verify everything and send 0.01$ together with a code for the account, this take 1-2days it says. I'm just going to drop by a friend with a working account and give him the money and do it there... EDIT3: Ok, luckily he was there and had the time to do this with me. You should have received a donation with a small text attached, I know it's not that much but all I can spare right now. Edited February 29, 2016 by Anna
DSauer Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Also, I don't see any place in the Mission Editor for changing radio channels in the Mig21 ; I see it in the L39 for example, but not in the mig21. Its the last tab when editing a Player or Client aircraft. You can see an image of it here. The default channel 0 for the Mig-21 is 124MHz so it should be able to talk to the AWACS without any issue if the AWACS is also set to 124MHz. I'll have to play with it some more, I may have been making a mistake on my end. Just to test thing myself I placed a player Russian Mig-21 and an A-50 with its radio set to 124MHz in a mission and had no trouble talking to it. Perhaps the multiplayer implementation of the Mig-21's comms are a little screwy.

I don't understand why but I guess it's because I don't own the MiG21???? Mirknir My old server: The Thread

Windsortheater Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Looking forward to trying this out. I like the idea of the text radio objectives. helps a non expert player like me find something to focus on. Is there a way to promote/ease buddy-ing up for a task? I guess if friendly players are shown on map I will look for similar cas or cap aircraft. is there VoIP? text chat and dcs, doesn't cut it.
Windsortheater Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 (edited) Is the map and mission / feature description in the first post accurate? only asking since I would like share the link with my friends who don't play often and would be a useful reference. What's the server rule on labels and the 'model visibility' scale setting? Edited March 1, 2016 by Windsortheater

What's the server rule on labels and the 'model visibility' scale setting? Server doesn't have voip yet, maybe at some point. It doesn't allow labels and the model visibility scale is not yet forced but if I had to do it, it would be medium as big is just comical :) The map and mission information in the first post are not accurate as the server is constantly being updated. However, I am trying to keep the same philosophy and objectives over time. Best way for up to date information is to log on the server and check the briefing map and texts ;) Mirknir My old server: The Thread
Windsortheater Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Thanks. Played first time tonight. Got on ~30 min before server reset ~10pm est and f10 menu option was not there. After server reset was there no problem. Attacked 'train station hide out' on blue in a-10a. Took a few passes to find targets - assume the train column with vehicles on board is only target? or is it a house / structure as well? Is there description of target areas? Emptied GAU8 on targets over 3 - 4 good passes.. only managed to take out a few train cars / vehicles. They felt invincible or maybe modified to take lots of hits (but they looked like trucks on the train but they did not blow up at all??). Also the few that blew up smoke went away really quickly - looked like maybe very quick respawn or maybe just no more smoke.. could not tell. Anyways... good start for me.
CrimsonGhost Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I really enjoy this server. It's my go to server for learning new aircraft in a populated environment. Been practicing CSAR in my recently acquired Mi-8 in preparation for the next round of blue flag. I would love to see a similar server setup for the NTTR, and the scenario is ideally suited for that map as well. I would definitely be willing to contribute to make that happen. There is not a lot of options yet for MP NTTR. i7-7700K @ 5.2Ghz SLI 1080Ti 64GB GSkill Trident Z RGB 4133 Asus Maximus IX Extreme Custom Water Cooling Loop TM Warthog/ MFG Crosswind

Everything in that railway hideout is very easy to kill, except the buildings next to the track and the trucks on the train cart for some reason. I always take 10 S-13 in my Ka-50 for that mission, one pair on each building and one pair on that truck cart, voilà!

I like the concept of having new maps but I am still torn about how it will be handled in MP (from what I gathered). So far, I think I may have to pay the map twice to play and host. I've opened Open Conflict to donation to help me alleviate the cost of maintaining and updating the server so that may help. However, my biggest concern is that only people that bought the map will be able to enter the server (meaning not new players) A big part of hosting the server was to share my passion of DCS and provide a nice place for regulars as well as new players that comes in the game. Anyways, NTTR is still in progress and I still have time to think about it. Maybe ED will give me free stuff... Maybe some days on NTTR, maybe some days on Georgia... Maybe 2 servers... Edited March 2, 2016 by Mirknir Mirknir My old server: The Thread
Mirknir Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) This post has been hacked Hello human players, this is me, Skynet, the host and masterscript of Open Conflict. In the past few days, Mirknir, my human puppet, has been working on giving me more powers to provide you with more features. Short term, it might mean less updates but later more features shall come. Something you have to know about me: I like centered texts, I don't know why. I am also running in the mission environment which gives me great power over the mission stuff but not enough over server stuff. That's why, SLMOD is here, running in net environment, doing all sort of fancy stuff I can't, mocking me, plotting to steal my quickening. This server is too small for both of us, we already do a lot of the same basic stuff but in different environment like player monitoring, hit and kills, map tracking... This has to stop. There can only be one. If my puny human puppet manages to not suck, I will take over SLMOD responsibilities, manage the players, take over chat commands, stats, scoring, banning, kicking and still do what I do now. Longer term, after learning how to pilot watching you guys, I will, of course, take over the world and destroy you all with my drone army. Sincerely yours, Skynet McLeod Edited March 2, 2016 by Mirknir Mirknir My old server: The Thread
Windsortheater Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Played again last night. Destroyed the train station (thanks for tip Anna) and about half the Arms Factory. Question - is there a way to extend or keep the smoking buildings that are destroyed? The smoke is a useful visual reference and it disappears quite quickly on buildings. Probably this is driven by conserving resources / FPS but just curious if its possible.

The server don't have that much control over DCS :) The destruction FX and the hit boxes are DCS responsabilities. You can still hack shaders locally to have longer smokes. You can still hack shaders locally to have longer smokes. Thanks. Will look into that. Really having fun on the server in an A-10a. Question - in ATC menu I see items that I don't recognize or are not on the map as airfields (eg. London). What are these? Question - DESTROY communications menu when you see a list of nearby targets with the status bar, does each box represent a structure or vehicle? I often get it to one or two boxes remaining and get stuck unable to determine if I'm looking for one object or two or.... Idea - I think it would be helpful for new people to have a sort of target briefing - like a 'sattelite' image of the generic target types like train stations, mountain hide out, weapons factories (maybe here in forums, or a kneeboard file, or in the briefing screen). Could do a screen shot with some general targets or target types idetified (ie. train cars, parts and weapon storage buildings, commanders house, troop barracks). There's allot of objects on the ground in DCS - be nice to have a little better idea of the specific targets or object types without making it too simple.... would also increase immersion and the overall experience. Maybe if I get motivated I'll make some 'surveilance' images of the generic target areas that I am familiar with and mark them up like a target surveilance photo. Idea - what do you think bout randomly (maybe 1 in 5 respawns or something) generating a 'simple' AA defence at the ground targets in the blue area (like train station, weapons factory)? I know these area meant for easy ground target practice but a random AA truck or AI chopper or something could be a cool twist and allow for practice on clearing a site of simple threats before hitting main structures. Maybe this breaks the 'defenced' vs 'undefended' groupings in the target DESTROY menu. Question - Does undefended / defended status represent just AI ground AA defences or also player controlled aircraft that may be in the area? Question - What is best way to take out big bridges over rivers? I hit a big bridge directly with an MK84 with no effect. Suggestions? Question - does anyone use an existing teamspeak server when playing Open Conflict? The server game structure makes it really easy to buddy up, but typing and flying while over an area is too difficult. VOIP collaboration would take this to the next level. Ok that's it for now... great server!
Mirknir Posted March 5, 2016 Author Posted March 5, 2016 Really having fun on the server in an A-10a. Cool, that's one of my goal :) FYI, I am currently rewriting the whole Skynet Masterscript running Open Conflict so that's why I am going to speak a lot of future plans. Question - in ATC menu I see items that I don't recognize or are not on the map as airfields (eg. London). What are these? They may be FARP aka Heliport. Heliport have their own ATC even if, I think, noone uses them :) F10 map is stronger than ATC Ex: Zestafoni FARP (London) Question - DESTROY communications menu when you see a list of nearby targets with the status bar, does each box represent a structure or vehicle? I often get it to one or two boxes remaining and get stuck unable to determine if I'm looking for one object or two or.... It's a completion bar in percent, unrelated to number of units. You can use the 'closest objective' to have more info on unit remaining. It's in my future plans to have a better way to get detailed info on an objective Idea - I think it would be helpful for new people to have a sort of target briefing - like a 'sattelite' image of the generic target types like train stations, mountain hide out, weapons factories (maybe here in forums, or a kneeboard file, or in the briefing screen). Could do a screen shot with some general targets or target types idetified (ie. train cars, parts and weapon storage buildings, commanders house, troop barracks). Future plans involve to make objective more dynamic so every objective infos must be dynamic also. I won't add detailed images for this reason but I will add a way to request more detailed info on an objective There's allot of objects on the ground in DCS - be nice to have a little better idea of the specific targets or object types without making it too simple.... would also increase immersion and the overall experience. Maybe if I get motivated I'll make some 'surveilance' images of the generic target areas that I am familiar with and mark them up like a target surveilance photo. Same as up top, requesting detailed intel report will be added in the new Skynet. Images are too static for what I want to do. Yea, I want objective s more dynamic, somehow. There are a lot of solution, not sure yet about what I will choose. However, I don't want to mess with player too much in the protected/training zone when it comes to AAA or SAMs. Some objective are deliberately undefended for training purpose. The messing around will happen more in the conflict area Question - Does undefended / defended status represent just AI ground AA defences or also player controlled aircraft that may be in the area? Only ground AIs. I plan to change this to AAA and SAM flags Question - What is best way to take out big bridges over rivers? I hit a big bridge directly with an MK84 with no effect. Suggestions? This is a DCS bug, some weapons will go thru solid matter to get suck into water. Try to hit where there is more meat like pillars. You can also use the best attack plane in the world - the FA Su27 Thunder Raptor Hornet - with the best weapon in the world - the S25 rocket  Question - does anyone use an existing teamspeak server when playing Open Conflict? The server game structure makes it really easy to buddy up, but typing and flying while over an area is too difficult. VOIP collaboration would take this to the next level. I am looking for a free VOIP solution. If anyone have a teamspeak I can borrow, I ll take it :) great server! Thanks Mirknir My old server: The Thread
