IIRC the FC3 Flanker has a partial data link?

;2503939']Short answer is the F-15C in DCS is a FC3 Level Aircraft.

It is not intended to be a study sim module with all the bells and whistles.

Hopefully in the future if we see a DCS F-15C it would have datalink!

thank you!

The F-15C was intended to operate with TWS and the AMRAAM, while the SU27 with Datalink and SARH.

F-15C with TWS, AMRAAM and Datalink would be way to OP for the FC3 theme, there has to be an element of balance when it comes to non study sim modules or else no one would fly them :)

Should be about feature capability not “balance”

In essence yes, but you need to consider that FC3 comes from a time where DCS as we have it now was not even imaginable. So many changes and progress up to this day.

In the times of FC3 it was a game, rather than a simulator like DCS is. It was a good damn game so good that you can perfectly operate now still with those planes. But the whole balance thing was part of the spirit and it was a tradeoff to be able to release a game with 8 flyable planes, which at the time was massive. You had to cut down certain features in order to make it viable. Not including the datalink in that moments seemed like the better decision.

When LOMAC came out datalink on an F-15 wasn't common knowledge and certainly only became part of the avionics in the 21st century.

There was a squadron of 18 F-15C at Elmendorf that was the test bed for the original JTIDS in the early 90s but that system was found lacking.

It could also be said that the cockpit in DCS is pre datalink.
