The dust blowing around when hovering low level is not bad, however you can clearly see its an effect that is regenerated every 2 seconds or so. I think a smoother effect would be great.

As well as low level flying in jets - effects are a little basic and need a do-over. What do you guys think? :idea:

Honestly, I think there's too much dust. You don't see dust over grass ever. You only see it over dirt/sand with a loose top layer. What would be cool is seeing bits of grass blowing around the aircraft when it gets picked up by the blade tip vortex. And only on dirt seeing dust.

I agree and this is a big wish for me......dust thrown out dependent on the type of ground underneath.Looks so kool to see ground vehicles in DCS thowing up clouds but over grass it should be slight if anything and just the stuff based around wheel height.:thumbup:

So over desert a real "brown-out" with zero visibilty? Cool, that would kick ass!

Depends a lot on the season and conditions... I've seen Leopard tanks pulling quite a dust vane in summer speeding over a "grassy field", just the soil was sand based and prone to produce fine dust.

 

But the overall idea to take ground types into account for dust is a good one.

The smoke at certain FOV / angles looks almost as a flat plane on the ground sometimes. Definitely needs a makeover. Even on water...would be nice to see new ripple effects and rooster tails when flying low.

Just this thread is killing my framerate. *Not really. I would like to see MUCH MORE attention given to smoke and dust effects*

 

Also not just to make it look good from an aircraft which has been the only consideration up till now. It SHOULD be realistic for people at ground level in Combined Arms units.

 

I have been testing CA in VR mode and the smoke and dust is not that good.

What did you do, to actually get close to "killing" your fps in EDGE?

All maxed and ultra etc. I get 30fps on 4k!

Also, the effect is already there and is consuming resources. So if it gets tweaked, who said it needs additional resources?

Yeah that's what I mean dust/grass etc... :thumbup:

 

Dare I say it, but FSX has a better / more realistic effect :music_whistling:
