kontiuka Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 About a month ago, my SSD with Windows 7 crashed so for the time being I have reinstalled it to my 2 TB platter drive. DCS, however, is installed on a 500 GB SSD. Ever since I reinstalled Windows, I've noticed DCS 1.2.16 doesn't play quite as smoothly as it did before. There seems to be a little bit more micro-stutter. So, bottom-line question, would the fact that Windows is on a slower platter drive affect DCS gameplay? I should mention that there really isn't anything else running in the background. Thx.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 13, 2015 ED Team Posted October 13, 2015 Wont windows use the drive it is installed on for the pagefile? might be the problem, I could be wrong and I am sure someone will correct me. Certainly sounds like a plausible reason for the problem. The issue, or apparent issue, may be the speed of the Windows drive. kontiuka Posted October 13, 2015 Author Posted October 13, 2015 Thanks for the responses. Just read a bit about pagefiles. So, they get written to when you are low on RAM? I have 16 GB. Would that still not be enough? It's a moot point anyways since I'll be moving Windows to my 500 GB SSD once I get my hands on the right cable. More curious than anything.

Yes, but you can change the path for it, or disable it what so ever (not recommended) or change its max size (not recommended either) as Windows pagefile (swap file) is used very heavily for all kind things even if you have 16-32GiB RAM. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
