Hi all,

In this video I'll show you how to do an in-flight refueling with the F15C.

In DCS 1.2 I didn't have much luck with in-flight refueling. The greatly improved performance of DCS1.5 in regard to 1.2 made me decide to try it again and I was more succesfull. Therefor this tutorial to share this experience.

Enjoy!

Well, I think it's down to the improved FPS, graphics fluency and control responsiveness. This makes it possible to see and correct far more subtle changes in aircraft position than previously.

Appreciated your video, I hadn't tried the F-15 in refueling, but you inspired me to have a go for a giggle.

Three attempts, Mostly hit boom and blew up along with tanker, but I did manage to hold formation in pre contact position pretty well, but only contacted once for a second or two, only to find out I had forced unlimited fuel on in the mission, so disconnected almost instantly, damn it !!!!

That was enough training for one night, will give it some more goes in the future. Can't be that hard, I can refuel in the A-10c fine ;-)

Just trying to figure where boom is in relation to cockpit when behind me near the refueling recepticle (used your offsets to centre of aircraft, but may have drifted to far left), Tried watching 4 replay tracks to see externally what I was doing, when only one actually showed what happened properly.

I just want to share my experience with refueling.

I was not able to fuel a full tank. I was not able to maintain the right speed and it was a back and forth.

The thing who changed everything was a small curve in the throttle axis

i went from full retarded to Pro aerial refueling just with that curve. Also formation flying is now enjoyable.

Quick question what mission are you using to practice Areal Refueling in the F15C?

You could probably whip one up in the mission editor pretty quickly.

tankers should be flying at about 320-350kts for fighters

MadDog-IC, indeed. The replay track system doesn't always work properly. An idea is to record your flight and once you hit that sweet spot make a screenshot or something and memorize that place :photo:

whaaw, thanks! I'll give that throttle-curve suggestion a go myself

OnlyforDCS, kontiuka, yes. It was indeed a custom mission :)

SDsc0rch you're right I think. Lower speeds like in the video are doable too, albeit with the help of flaps :)

That's good advice. I'll have to consider that sometime.
