Dirkan Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 (edited) Did you even read the PDF that I posted? I quote: Forward center of gravity postitions result in high stabillity and high stick forces; and as the center of gravity is moved aft, these forces become less and less until a center of gravity (called the neutral point) is reached at which no change in force occurs with changes in speed. The stick forces will reverse if the center of gravity continues to move aft and the airplane is then unstable. The neutral point for the P-51B, C and D airplanes is at 28.3% of the m.a.c." For reference, the article says the test was done with the P-51 at exactly mid CG. Mid CG stick forces is measured in the article at 20lbs/g, and in the actual 1944 report, it is at 6.3lbs/g. The article uses modified aircraft and as such it has no place here and does not prove a thing when it comes to stick forces. The P-51 had light joystick controls according to the pilot's manual as well as the report that was done with unaltered combat aircraft. End of discussion, and end of OT. Crumpp Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 It is still showing ~70lbs on the pull out Dirken without the bobweight in a forward CG and over 100lbs at the pull out with the bobweight. Answers to most important questions ATC can ask that every pilot should memorize: 1. No, I do not have a pen. 2. Indicating 250

I think what is confusing you is the difference in measurement techniques. The turn method delivers a higher stick force per G than the steady pull out favored by the NACA. It is not the steady state stick force per G listed in the Technical Order you posted or the NACA stability measurements I posted. I am sorry for not mentioning it earlier, I just assumed you knew. 20lbs/g turn method = ~ 6.3lbs in the steady pull out. Many Stability and Control text's have a conversion chart for the measurement techniques. sobek Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 And did you notice the new detonation effects if you lower the throttle way too much inflight ? Do you perhaps mean backfiring? Detonation would never be caused by lowering the manifold pressure. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Do you perhaps mean backfiring? Detonation would never be caused by lowering the manifold pressure. That's it sobek ;-) I'll fix it in the post above :-) Flight Simulation is the Virtual Materialization of a Dream...

gavagai Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Yep Why so laconic? Please don't be coy if you know something I do not. I just tested out the P-51D after I saw your image and I do not obtain that MP at any altitude. Crumpp Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 I am using DCS 1.5 and ran a repair and update before I flew yesterday. Try that Gavagai and see if you get the 72inHG. gavagai Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 (edited) Will do! ------------ Tried that procedure. First attempt my engine died within 2 seconds of engaging WEP (in level flight). Second attempt no difference. Just the normal 67".
