I am giving serious consideration on upgrading to this monitor:

http://www.samsung.com/levant/consumer/it/monitor/curved-monitor/LS34E790CNS/ZN

Does anyone have any experience with ultra wide monitors and specifically curved ultra wide monitors that could advise me of any pitfalls that might be in front of me if I move to this kind of display?

Am I going to have distortion issues? Will framerate be impacted to such a negative degree that I will end up longing for my old double 1920x1200 displays?

I currently use two 1920x1200 displays side-by-side (one of them for the MFCD's of the A-10C or the Abris+shkval for the Ka-50) and I get a pretty solid 70fps.

Looks like an awesome monitor. I put my postcode in to find the nearest store and it seesm England doesn't have one lol.

Im using 3xAcer 24" and the pic is beautiful. They were only about £120 each. Bargain,

I have that screen and it's great! The field of view is fantastic!

If you're planning on running DCS in 3440x1440 you may have to get a better vid card with 4Gb RAM.

I have a i7 4970 4GHz, 16Gb RAM and a GTX980.

It will ding your framerate a bit but it's totally worth the upgrade.

No distortion, that's the purpose of the curve!

Is there any vertical loss? I'm using a 28" monitor presently and my concern is that the actual image of the cockpit itself would be smaller with the ultrawide.

It's approximately the same height as my 27" 16:9.

Edit: Put 24", meant 27"

That is the advert. However depends on what FOV you have in game (and if it is fixed/locked) and what distance you stay away from the screen. Otherwise is just cool.

Best choice wold be though to wait and see the VR sets coming to market and see if they don't worth more for immersion that a monitor that might be just delegated to second role.
