uboats Posted November 25, 2015 Author Posted November 25, 2015 Yes, it's the 11-23 OB update. The description.lua is right out of your zip file attached to the first post. For the Su-25T you need to modify it, since everyone could have different customized dds [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My DCS Mods, Skins, Utilities and Scripts | Windows 10 | i7-4790K | GTX 980Ti Hybrid | 32GB RAM | 3TB SSD | | TM Warthog Stick | CH Pro Throttle + Pro Pedal | TIR5 Pro | TM MFD Cougar | Gun Camera: PrtScn |
Wizard1393 Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 (edited) So, if I'm understanding correctly, the whole point of this mod is to make it possible to JUST mod certain texture files? Because imho it's still EASIER to just do it the "old" way and just placing an unpacked texture folder with the same name as the original zip, just next to the original zip. BTW Tried this way to modding the SU-25A textures. No joy. Old way still works. Did you mean with your comment above that this mod/way does not currently work with FC3 planes? Like L-39C & Ka-50's eng pit. Since for old way, if you don't want to use them, you need to change folder name or delete them. But now you just need to choose another option in sim. BTW Tried this way to modding the SU-25A textures. No joy. Old way still works. Did you mean with your comment above that this mod/way does not currently work with FC3 planes? if your su-25a is from FC3, unfortunately, it has bug right now. please wait for next update if your su-25a is dedicated module, it should work, at least my install works [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My DCS Mods, Skins, Utilities and Scripts | Windows 10 | i7-4790K | GTX 980Ti Hybrid | 32GB RAM | 3TB SSD | | TM Warthog Stick | CH Pro Throttle + Pro Pedal | TIR5 Pro | TM MFD Cougar | Gun Camera: PrtScn |
Wizard1393 Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Ok got it. The SU-25A I have is FC3. It still works with "the old" way of replacing cockpit textures so I'm good! Devrim Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 (edited) Chris, you may be right about "old" way. If you (pilot) will use only one cockpit style, -yes- it may be easier to install in old way. This (Customized Cockpit) feature may be useful with certain mods like "Mi-8 English cockpit" and "Mi-8 Black cockpit". Or, "Ka-50 Black Cockpit" and "Ka-50 Blue Cockpit"... You can easily change cockpits from pull-down menu - no need install one or otherone in old method. We used to use JSGME app to change cockpits. :) Now, this script very useful for changing cockpits. Thanks to UBoat! Long to short; In general, when bugs fixed, I think it would be nice to install all cockpit mods according to this feature. jjohnson241 Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 I'm not clear at all as to how to modify the description.lua. I've looked at the L39 and MIG 15 examples that are in 1.5 and it is in no way clear what has to match between the DDS files and the content of the description.lua. Can you explain the mechanics between the DDS files and what has to be in the description.lua? Anyhow, thanks for the response. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 3rd Mar Div RVN '66-'67
uboats Posted November 25, 2015 Author Posted November 25, 2015 Can you explain the mechanics between the DDS files and what has to be in the description.lua? Contents within livery={} are materials needed for complete skin. But you can comment all the lines except lines that are linked to dds/tga/bmp files which have same file names as your customized ones. Look at mi-8 Chinese cockpit description.lua, and compare the uncomment lines with dds/tga/bmp files in that folder. And I think you will be clear. Wizard1393 Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Now, this script very useful for changing cockpits. Oh yeah! Don't get me wrong! I get the idea and it's great if you want to mix and match and have easy access to several different cockpits at once. Personally I basically just use your English Cockpit mods and I'm a happy camper so I'm all set :) But yeah, I might have come off as a whiner, didn't mean to! I appreciate all people contributing to the community! I just didn't really understand the point at first. GPU: PALIT NVIDIA RTX 3080 10GB | CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K @ 4,9GHz | RAM: 64GB DDR4 3000MHz VR: HP Reverb G2 | HOTAS: TM Warthog Throttle and Stick OS: Windows 10 22H2

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sorry but the MI8 Chinese example is anything but clear. There are many more uncommented entries in the description.lua than there are files for the Chinese cockpit. That's true for other examples I've looked at. I'm not an artist or skinner but I would expect to see a one for one relationship between the uncommented entries in the description.lua and the files modified for whatever language is being implemented. That's obviously not the case for the examples I've seen. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 3rd Mar Div RVN '66-'67

spaceraver Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 So.. I can use DDS files instead of bmp and tga? That was an optimisation in a farming Sim game I play. DDS loads faster and can be transparent too.. Anything with a Rotary Wing is fun and challenging. Use SRS radio. SilentEagle Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 IMPORTANT NOTE: This will not work in aircraft placed in the Saved Games mods folder. I've been pulling my hair out the last few days trying to get this to work with our mod. It wasn't working for me, but my teammates were seeing the different cockpit liveries in the combolist just fine. Obviously, I was the only placing the aircraft in Saved Games.
