1.JaVA_Platypus Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Just this morning, I took the MiG-21 for a spin. And after flying at an altitude of 9km, I noticed the gunsight getting blurry. I am pretty sure I switched on the helmet ventilation and airconditioning controls (all on automatic) And I was wondering, why is the gunsight getting fuzzy? It quickly dissapeared when I decended. Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
VincentLaw Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Looks like hypoxia to me. You should double check your oxygen system. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
zaelu Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 No oxigen. Have you sealed the canopy? 1.JaVA_Platypus Posted November 14, 2015 Author Posted November 14, 2015 No oxigen. Have you sealed the canopy? Yes I did. Both handles forward. And won't your canopy blow off if they are not sealed properly? Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
Cykyrios Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I don't own the MiG-21, but this is indeed caused by hypoxia. If you'd stayed longer up there, it would've got worse and worse, up to the point where the screen turns black. These screenshots are from a test I performed with the Mustang a few weeks ago.
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted November 14, 2015 Author Posted November 14, 2015 (edited) Those shots are pretty clear. But you would think the MiG-21 is equiped with enough oxygen to stay up there for a considerable amount of time? I did not look at the time, but I was up at 9km for no more then 30 minutes or so. How much oxygen can the MiG-21 take with him and can you have any control over the oxygen flow except for the on-off function? Edited November 14, 2015 by 1.JaVA_Platypus Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
zaelu Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I don't know how much Oxigen you have but 30 minutes might be close to deplete it. Check the gauge on the left vertical console near gear handle. OverStratos Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 This looks like hypoxia indeed. You must double check if the oxygen system is tuned correctly, and no, unless the canopy locks malfunction, it´s not going anywhere even if it´s not pressurized. I hope it´s not a bug. I don't know how much Oxigen you have but 30 minutes might be close to deplete it Yes, if you´re a superlative oxygen eating monster. If not, it should last longer.
grunf Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 I just did a quick test, spent almost an hour above 10000m and haven't experienced hypoxia. There was still more than half oxygen left. I ran out of fuel though :D.
Brisse Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Always check oxygen flow indicator during startup. It could be that you thought you enabled helmet ventilation, but actually didn't.
FalconPlot16 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 encountered this problem before i reluctantly unsealed my canopy in airborne my altitute was 5000 meters also %100 oxygen and emergency oxygen buttons doesnt worked
