Capn kamikaze Posted November 21, 2015 Author Posted November 21, 2015 I'm not so sure about them either, but I am sure it has a lousy pk if only one is fired. Having done some testing, it is quite possible to defeat AIM-120 armed opponents, and launching at range, you just have to be very high, like 45kft, very fast, as much as you can, and launch several missiles with different types of guidance, then slow the hell down and keep the bandit at the gimbal limits of the radar, and then as soon as you think you've got a kill go defensive for the 120, but even then, the AIM-120 won't have much airspeed left, I didn't even have to manuvoure, I just turned dived and went away from it. I just did this and I don't have much in the way of hours on the Su-27, so if I can do it then so can anyone else.
