Woogey Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 I am requesting E.D. start the implementation of Seperate Airport DLC that adds to existing maps. Similar to ORBX buisness model, this would be a perfect way to detail out each world as we see fit for our own needs. Secondly, it would decrease the initial download size and time of new area maps. I am most certain that these additional airports would be just as popular as the Aircraft modules themselves. Flying around the Alpha NTTR, we see various civilian airports all over the place as part of the base imagery. These beg to have even basic details added to them. Let alone the 6 or 7 other Military Airfields that fall within the Nevada Map borders. More detailed Imagery could be part of each individual Airfield add-on. Personaly, I will buy, and add as many details as I can to make my military flight in DCS as authentic as possible. -Woog

VincentLaw Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 (edited) If we have paid DLC that alters the terrain of existing maps, then I strongly encourage ED to keep multiplayer compatibility in mind. I think it would be cool to be able to fly from San Francisco to Las Vegas by stitching two separate terrains together, but having NTTR and San Francisco shouldn't prevent me from playing with someone who only has NTTR. Woogey Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 If we have paid DLC that alters the terrain of existing maps, then I strongly encourage ED to keep multiplayer compatibility in mind. I completly agree Vincent. The only factor that would really affect this in my mind would be the Elevation mesh that is used. To this point, I believe E.D. would need to implement a high quality mesh everywhere. This way add-on airports and scenery would not need to alter the mesh itself. The clarity or resolution of the imagery that is "Draped" over the top of the mesh near the new airport, would only be seen by the happy new owner of said scenery. If I don't own a particular airport, I would just see an airplane or Helo landing at a blurry detail less airport. The important aspect, is the Land and Hills are the same for everyone. We don't want to see airplanes sunck into the ground, or floating while parked and stationary. Flying around the NTTR map really gives me the feeling that Eagle Dynamics has broken through a major barrier in development of the next big thing. I hope they have the forsite to realise that this platform can be used by Mil-simmers, and others at the same time. E.D. doesn't haveto lose their focus on Combat Simulation, just Allow other Devs to bring forth all the capabilities that this new engine and map offer. -Woog
DerekSpeare Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 ED could supplant FSX/P3D as the de facto flight sim of choice by allowing third parties to create new map areas and new aircraft. They'd be well served to take a cut of the action for each add-on sold, and doing that, they'd make a mint. Their asset has so much potential. CHSubZero Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I hope ED will never let 3rd parties to alter an existing map. Will be too confusing when flying online. For creating new modules and (completely) new terrains any 3rd party can contact ED right now... Aviation Livery - Explore Military Aircraft Liveries My Mods: DCS User Files
