I am having issues in 2.0 with both frame rate and graphics. The graphics I am getting even on high settings are NOT what people are posting in their vids, I am getting a lot of missing buildings, "popping", and choppy performance. I have tried lower graphic settings and I just get missing buildings and muddy looking terrain, at the higher settings I get less missing buildings but a lot of "popping" buildings and slow choppy fps. I did not have these problems before but I know Nevada is more demanding.

Thinking my old ATI 5770 card is going to need replaced. Its a 2MB card and I am guessing it just can't handle Nevada! Or just I do a whole new system? Recommendations?

If I do just the GPU, Probably going to go to a GTX970. Best bang for the buck?

I have the i7 920 as you can see in my Sig. I have not problems with the Sim. All settings on High. Same Motherboard and Ram. Just have the 760 and wouldn't change a thing right now anyway, you know how that goes, never can "Future Proof" a PC. to many hardware enhancements.

Windows got it wrong, which can happen especially if you don't have the correct driver installed. The card does indeed support DX11, but it is getting old. I wouldn't want to be stuck with one of those for DCS 2.0.

I have two 5770's x fired ( took them out). When 1.5 rolled out I was in the same boat. With xfire I did see some gains (about 10-15). I have 16gb mem, I7-930 proc. I decided to upgrade and got two r9-270 (best buy model) and saw mass improvements.

In 1.5 flying the ka-50 in the "Clear Tchavili" mission I was seeing 35-40 fps at mission start and pretty much hovered in that range throughout. (x-fire)

I am now seeing 100+ fps in dcs 2.0.

(settings high with medium traffic).

With the new drivers ( which offer no improvement for the 5770 iirc) my frames have improved even more.

So, in short newer vid card will/should do wonders for you. Hope this helps.

Like i said in the other thread. Get the 970 FTW, it's 10-20 dollars more and will preform with a normal 980 in terms of FPS. What resolution are you playing at?

Best bang for the buck?

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_value.html

compare with

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

and we see that a GTX 950 is currently the most cost-effective (highest benchmark points per dollar) of all 900-series video cards. By comparison, the GTX 970 costs over twice as much, but only brings a 60% increase in bench score.

As far as DCS performance goes, the 950 scores 25% better than the 780M in my laptop, and I run DCS 1.5 at near max settings and see 45-60 FPS, depending on aircraft, altitude, and location.

Would you mind expanding on this? What 970 are you comparing the 970 FTW to? Would the superclocked EVGA 970 be even better than this?
