Hey I'm having a problem when I cold start my aircraft in the campaign missions. I follow all the training missions start up procedures and i made sure the switches on the right side that turn the power on are flipped, the 1st light will not turn red or green, if i flip it all the way up ill get the radar screen to turn on but no lights, the middle switch the ground filter will turn solid green when flipped, but ive tried toggling the 1st to standby while im starting the aircraft it just won't turn on.

is there something obvious that I'm missing?

I just did it again and waited 10. still nothing no lights.

Was the radar switch on standby or on? It needs to be on standby for 5 minutes before turning the radar on.

One common mistake :

Do not start your avionics before your engine. It goes for most plane. Starting or warming up the radar while your engine is launching will damage it. (unstable electrical supply)

I do this pretty much all of the time without any issues! :music_whistling:

Remember, the MiG-21 was designed as an interceptor and could be started up and ready for taxi within a minute! I assume there are safeties in place that really starts to warm up the radar and other avionics when the proper Voltages and Frequencies were achieved by the engine's generator. The MiG-21 will be just fine when you start flicking switches right after the engine-start button is pushed. Only the radar needs to be in standby mode for a few minutes. But that is okay since it is useless below 1 or 2 km of altitude anyways.

Happy Flying! :pilotfly:

I had this same issue, and the problem (seems to be) that I hadn't turned on the pitot heat. Centre console, just above the warning light array. Hope that helps someone!

Java, we're talking late 50's and early 60's man, not to mention soviet built for quantity no quality. Of all 30 types of aircraft I flown in real life ranging from 1950's era to brand new, you'd never turn avionics on first if there is a switch enabling it. The attention to detail with this is excellent, if this is the reason the radar is shorting.

I haven't had any issues with the radar, since the last patch it's been awesome, it looks more realistic now, and locking people with beam mode works well again too.
