tonym Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 I have the BS updated version 1 to 2 & this seemingly loaded O.K. into the open beta 1.5. However the pitch is extremely unstable in this version, the slightest twitch of the stick giving violent up & down movements. The axis settings are exactly the same as in 1.2 & despite trying every variation of the axis settings I can't get the pitch stable. Is this because the updated version is not suitable for the 1.5 beta or is there some other cause. Do I have to install the original BS into the 1.5 beta, as was the case with 1.2.? TonyM
dburne Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 I actually found the opposite going from 1.2 to 1.5, the KA-50 seemed better behaved to me, especially when trimming. Ok so two things first come to my mind. 1: Did you transfer your controller settings over from 1.2? They highly suggest not doing this, but building the settings from scratch. 2: Go through all your controllers in the game GUI, the default install will assign some really crazy stuff in there - on mine, it assigned the same axis commands to all my controllers, hence creating some crazy responses when trying to fly. Best to go through and wipe out all the default axis and button assignments, and then re-assign. What I did , was export my controller assignments in 1.2 to HTML from the controller setup menu, then used them to reference to set up my controllers for 1.5. tonym Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 Hi Don Thanks for the suggestions. No I did not carry over the previous settings, just started from scratch & I have checked that there are not multiple controllers being involved. As you rightly say there are some crazy assignments at first. I am wondering whether it would be worth deleting the 1 to 2 upgrade & buying & Installing the new BS2, although the price of doing this is putting me off at present. Regards TonyM
msalama Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Sounds like overlapping control mappings to me. OP, please check your controller assignments and report back. FWIW, I noticed no change whatsoever when I went from v1.2 to v1.5. EDIT: Ah, OK Tony, something else then. Thanks. The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

Regards TonyM Hmm, strange one. I would think, whatever version you have, if the module starts up in DCS World and you can get in the cockpit and fly, you should be good to go. I personally picked up BS2 full version on a sale some time ago, just so I did not have to mess with the upgrade dance going forward. But I do not believe that would be the answer in your case. A bit of a PITB , but I would suggest: Deleting your input files in your saved games 1.5 OB folder, for your joysticks/controllers. Launch DCS World, should put the default back in. Then go in the controller setup, and for each controller delete each and every assignment for that specific controller, including axis assignments, even if any of them appear correct - wipe them out anyway. Be sure and look at each and every controller that is recognized. Then, go in and rebuild each button and axis assignment. At least , that is probably what I would try first. It sure sounds like you have a conflict in there somewhere, and they can be easy to miss. Be especially careful, one can easily highlight the wrong controller when assigning - I have done that multiple times. Also btw, what stick are you using? tonym Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 Hi Don Will certainly try your suggestions. Probably tomorrow now, as just about to go out. My controller is a Hotas Warthog set up with the stick extension. I mostly fly the A10C these days, although I used to fly the BS extensively before & fancy trying the latest BS missions again. Thanks again TonyM

Thanks again TonyM 10/4 - great stick, I love mine! Looking at adding an extension. You should have no problem with that setup in DCS! Yurgon Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 However the pitch is extremely unstable in this version, the slightest twitch of the stick giving violent up & down movements. The axis settings are exactly the same as in 1.2 & despite trying every variation of the axis settings I can't get the pitch stable. One more thing to check: Do you have Force Feedback enabled in Options -> Misc in 1.5? For non FFB-Sticks like the TM Warthog, this can cause all kinds of weird control anomalies. Can you record and post a short track that shows the problem? It's a shot in the dark, but maybe it'll make it easier to figure out what's going on. An addendum to Don's suggestion: It's always easier to rename your "Saved Games" folder or move its contents to another folder than to actually delete any of it. That way, if this doesn't help, you can easily copy your controller settings etc back. Finally, I would try a DCS repair. It doesn't necessarily help, but it's worth a try. You can reach it via All Programs -> Eagle Dynamics -> DCS World OpenBeta
tonym Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 Hi Guys Tried all the suggestions. Slight improvement, but still not like 1.2. I think that I will wait for 2.0 & get the BS2. I am not that keen on 1.5 anyway, as I think the scenery has a very washed out look & it's just the same old area. 2.0 at present seems a bit pointless as it's not a combat zone, just a practice area. I think that the Straits of Hormuz will bring a whole new look to the game. TonyM
