chobbsUH60 Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 (edited) Hey guys, I know this has been discussed a little bit but I searched for a while and everywhere I searched, didn't come up with an answer so I figured I needed to post something to get some help. The low-down: the problem is I started off trying to touch up my landings in the 21 so I resorted to touch-and-go's and found out the hard way that the drag shoot didn't open after multiple touch-downs. So then I attempted to make my own mission. Now this mission has a take off, aerial combat, landing for fuel, then a ferry flight back to home base. What I've found is that through both landings, my drag chute isn't opening. Now before anyone draws any conclusions, I don't use a custom key-binding, just the standard "P" button, and I make sure the cover is open. Any help is greatly appreciated. Btw, this problem started with 1.5, don't know if the two are related but... Thanks, Hobbsy Edited December 12, 2015 by chobbsUH60 Misspelling: Drag-Chute
RoflSeal Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Are you setting the gear handle to neutral after you retract and extend it? Since that reduces hydraulic pressure.
chobbsUH60 Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 Yes. As soon as I take off, I retract gear, shut off taxi light, set the lever to neutral, and then set flaps up. It all usually is a pretty smooth process
Art-J Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Well, if You're referring to this thread, where the subject was discussed... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=148855 ... then there was no answer, because we haven't got a 100% confirmation from devs about the problem's cause. The explanation that guys in the thread came up with sounds 99%-plausible, though :D. I know I have brakes mapped to a button, my air supply doesn't leak and I never experienced drag chute failure so far. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Zomba Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 It's a problem that got detected over half a year a go. I'm not sure why it hasn't been mentioned by the devs, let alone addressed in all this time. I don't test for bugs, but when I do I do it in production.
Sokol1_br Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Strange, with last update the Mig-21 drag chute are OK there, work include in a wild stall, as last desperate measure - successfully. :)
chobbsUH60 Posted December 13, 2015 Author Posted December 13, 2015 So update, Art-j gave me a great idea. Coupled with the idea that not many people have this problem, i figured i would switch brakes from my pedals to a button. Now... the drag chute works no problem. haha for anyone that has this problem, no brakes on one of your pedals. Thanks for all the input though guys! Hobbsy
Zomba Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 (edited) The problem is a leak issue with the pneumatic system once the brakes are first used. As long as there is pressure in it then the chute works fine. That's why you can take off, get into trouble and use the chutes for recovery no problem because there is still available pressure. Much later in the flight though and it's a different story. It only seems to work when binding the brake with an analogue axis. Rebinding to a button is a workaround. As far as I know the issue has never been fixed since it started about 2-3 months ago, although I haven't checked in 1.5.2 Edited December 14, 2015 by Zomba bad math I don't test for bugs, but when I do I do it in production.
grunf Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 IIRC the issue first appeared in the 1.5, not before.
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 And to think I specially modified my Warthog so that my pinky switch also controls a potmeter for assigning the brakes to. :joystick: Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
T0x1s Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I am having problems detaching the chute. I can get the chute out without any problems but I cant take it away. I have to engage afterburner because it disappears when afterburner is on then I just throttle back again

I have to engage afterburner because it disappears when afterburner is on then I just throttle back again You must first open-up the drag-chute disconnect guard. It guards the actual disconnect switch from accidentally being pressed. It is somewhere behind the Throttle. It is black. Wait a minute and I'll have a screenshot ready. Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
