FeistyLemur Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 So the cannon fire still appears to be coming from above the cockpit when the barrel is underneath the plane. I assume this is a bug, though I haven't seen it acknowledged that it's known yet.
Corrigan Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 I haven't seen it but it sounds like someone's gotten their coordinates reflected. Should be an easy fix. Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5
Art-J Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Checked it a couple of days ago. This visual effect is caused by the airplane flying all the time at more or less positive angle of attack - as a result, tracer smoke "jumps" above the canopy almost immediately. Pitch down to 0 or negative AoA and you'll see both tracer shells and smoke being animated correctly. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Nerd1000 Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Huh, have to try. Is that correct behavior? I'm not exactly a physicist here. Its realistic. The effect only looks odd because you're moving and thus end up below the smoke trail made by the shells, which have flown up above your altitude.
Art-J Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Well, "correct" as in "starting at the cannon barrel" sense. Visually, It could've been better I agree - flowing around lower fuselage and stuff. The problem is, smoke animation is generally simplified in DCS (smoke just flies through the external 3D model of an airplane), so it looks kinda weird and not quite realistic. I'm afraid that's not something LN can fix, though. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

OxideMako Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Making smoke flow around stuff would require a fluid dynamics simulation, which might be a little heavy on the CPU :D Could try different smoke animation over certain AOA? But I know next to nothing about this kind of stuff! So it may not be possible to fix.
