winchesterdelta1 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 I don't really care about waiting another month or two.. But i do care having this product on my HDD and not be able to do what i do most with it. Playing it in Multiplayer in a team vs team environment. And the level of cooperation needed to IFF people correctly on a full 51 player server with fur balls up to 10 people is incredibly difficult. Multiplayer suffers first again. I can see the excessive TK kicks and temp bans already coming. I'm very disappointed not even a place holder has been implemented for this important feature. And it is really hard for me to be disappointed with such fantastic products as this. And i know this module will be all worth-ed. A well it's probably my own fault for only liking multiplayer. Time to step up my game 200% it seems. But i probably just wait another 4 months or more for IFF to be implemented before i even touch this. Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.

Isn't not like you wont be able to do anything until IFF is in there. And if I had a guess I'd say IFF is pretty high on their list so it probably wont be that long. And it's not like it's impossible to do BVR combat without IFF, especially if you're playing pvp with friends on teamspeak. Then all you have to do is call raygun. And then if you shoot down a friend it's not really your fault.

You look like a very experienced pilot in the 104th and you should know what Im going to say, if I remember correctly, I just saw a single TK kill of a Mig 21, with an IR missile. The 21 has the IFF "Key" but I never used, in 99% of the situations I knew the target was an enemy, this shouldnt change now, you have Teamspeak,Map and some kind of Situational Awarness and that should make your way with the Muragesock till the IFF is ready. As for furballs, well, in every furball I was it happened 2 things, 1- I were so close that I could distinguish the enemy Skin, usually F15 from Israel and su 27 from Ukranie (the different ones) or the second situation, where you knew the position of your friendlies, and so on the enemy is clear to be on the opposite side, or triying to flank (Hostile intention you should see) Accidents always happens, and the IFF is there for something, but being "Unable" to play on the 104 is a bit excesive, if you want, you will find a way, apart from that, there is world outside the 104 (I love it, Im usually there) Maybe you rely too many on your Radar and 120 or 27ER, you need to try the close combat Edited December 22, 2015 by il_corleone

Nobody is forcing you to fly it? You bought a beta product, so you cannot really expect all features on release.. I have seen some tk's done by mig-21, but not many in comparison to the ones i've seen with the f-15's and the su-27's..

Ugh, I've had it happen SO often that I'm in the merge with a flanker or eagle and that I've been fratted by some nitwit at BVR range.

Im a subscriber on WincherDelta videos, and he also got splash by friendlies with radar ;) Accidents happens, IFF helps but not resolves the problem man 1:54:50 to 1:55:30
winchesterdelta1 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 I expect the most important features.. Like a landing gear and such and IFF. As others said even with IFF TK's happen pretty often (yes i sometimes make the mstake as well). Now imagine without. Only MIG-21 ACES are on such a level that they can fly without IFF. But i suspect them to interrogate at the last moment to prevent TK's. But you are right. I can wait a few more months. I'm not going to complain about this to much. Cause i don't want to sound like the complainers that can not even wait a extra week. The end product will be worth-ed anyway i'm sure. Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.

Well, the thing is that if dcs was only 104th, then i'd support you.. but it isn't.. There are alot of people who are either getting the mirage just for A/G or freeflight (aerobatics, formation etc) And i would argue that the most important feature is there (unlike some other modules... :music_whistling:) The EFM!! Can't wait to shoot people down :)
mattebubben Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 does anyone know how directional the rwr is? Since if its effective at telling you "exact" directions of the radar locking you it could be used as an iff to some degree. Pretty much a situation where if somone hardlocks you (for more then a few seconds) he can be declared a bogey and if somone launches at you it can be confirmed as a definate hostile. Does the Mirage-2000C come with internal ecm? Since if not using ecm and friendly (unless a mirage ofc xD) will know you are a friendly and as such if they hardlock you (for more then a second or 2) and you mistake them as an enemy because of it they only have themselves to blame.
Crunchy Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Than for my part i could wait another month for the Mirage to get this feature. Cause now it's pretty useless in Multiplayer if i can not even see friend from foe. Was looking forward to fly this on the 104th.. But now i have to wait till the IFF is ready otherwise i will be killing friendly's all over in Multiplayer. So there is seriously no place holder for this? And we can not implement the tactic "Eyeball and shooter" cause that means we have to come so close to see the markings because all aircraft types are flown on both sides. I and many others won't consider it to be useless in Multiplayer. Since when has DCS been about dogfighting in Mutiplayer all the time? Many servers are put up just to learn the aircraft and enjoy flying it and that's what I'll be doing. This is the reason it's in beta because it doesn't have all the functions yet.
OnlyforDCS Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Yeah it's no big deal. Especially when you consider the fact that IFF in real life works only if the targeted aircraft has an IFF transponder. I.E. it will only tell you if an aircraft is friendly if it's carrying a transponder. I assume that this is what Razbam want to implement and not implement FC3 style systems. Yes I imagine that on most multiplayer servers this would be quite enough to tell friend from foe, as there are no 'neutral' aircraft flying around. Does anyone know if any of the DCS birds have simulated transponders or is this something that is simplified in DCS World? Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Agreed, chill out people, just enjoy the aircraft and learn flying it in the meantime. Also ask yourself, if IFF was here but not EFM, would you have whined? I'm pretty sure yes, taking IFF as granted and seeing only what's not here. You guys need to learn to adapt and not be that narrow minded. Oh and learn patience too.
winchesterdelta1 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 You guy's are right. I will learn to live with it till it's there. It will be good fun anyway and a good challenge to learn how to operate the radar and other systems. Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.

iborg Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 For me, since I only flew helos and "old" planes in DCS so far, I'll have to relearn all the BVR fast jet stuff. So not having IFF will force me to build SA the old way (by setting and listening), which is good training. Ryzen 3600X - RTX 2080 - 32 GB Ram - DCS on SSD. DCS Modules : M2K-C, F18-C, FW-190D, Huey, Gazelle, Black Shark, Mig-15, all maps.
jaguara5 Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 You can't find because the manual is RDM, and that last data is RDI feature. :smilewink: WPT 1 230°/ 4.3Nm The 41 24 numbers on the right of the TDC cursor are the altitude scan area on the cursor point and the 22 on the left is the distance , right? Haven't found any relevant Information in razbam's manual or am i missing something?

Muppetlord Posted December 25, 2015 Author Posted December 25, 2015 Might as well continue this thread... I've got no contacts on radar at all. Can't lock with Magic II either. I've no idea what I'm doing. :helpsmilie:
