what's LERX?

I want to make a J-15 skin (pure grey), but current su33 dds are in camo, and difficult to remove the camo.

Leading Edge Root Extension,

The Area Where the Canards Are.

For the Most Part, Su-27 Template should work, might be some small differences where the LERX, Canards and Wingfolds are.

** Edit there appears to be a few differences actually.

There doesnt appear to be any height map or anything to convert to 2 color for panel line overlays etc.

MIG-15 has less detailed height map than the F-86 Did as well.

su-33 has a completely new HD external model, and the dds seems quite different from 27's

alot of the -27 and -33 maps are the same, but there's some items moved around on them.

Is it possible to deconstruct an .edm file to determine how Belstimtek mapped the surfaces? Or is that buried in a way we can't get to it?

I can **Maybe** dump the UVW Coordinates from VRAM, and then convert them to a UVW File To open in 3DS Max Texture Editor to Export as UVW Overlays,

But I cant Garauntee it, as It took me hours to convert the Coordinates for the F-86 template.

I'll also look at default grey texture and see if I cant start making layered template, but I have no idea about label/decals in russian, lol, i likely dont have the font, nor the ability to read and re type them all.

But to answer your question, no, EDM is a One Way Protected 3D Format/Container, only programs able to open and read it are DCS and the model viewer.

I'll give it a look tonight.

I dont wanna start another layered template, because it would be wasted time if BST has one already.

If I was to put out a PSD for the MiG, it would be Simple and require someone else to redraw panel lines/rivets.

ie

UVW Layer

Diffuse Layer

as I wont have time to do anything else.

Holy cow, awesome.

Can you share how you do the height map processing?

btw, love how you are basically like "holy crap this is hard" then have a template 56 minutes later... =P

Good song selection on mp3 player gets me in the zone.

as for height map processing, no secret, the hight map usually has the panel lines and rivets etc.

open in photoshop, image menu change to black and white, and it will bring up the color filter, leave blue in the middle and drop everythi g else to zero to make black, adjust blue to get a good contrast.

paste into psd over base texture, either do color selection, then delete the background of the layer or change layer type to overlay etc to make transparent.

might be easier and more beneficial to just trace the panel lines and re draw rivets to match height map.

also pretty sure some small stuff is missing from the UVA overlay.

I kinda rushed the selection and deleting part and might've deleted some coordinates i shouldnt have.
