I'm not sure if my problem is the same, but it is very similar: I updated working (!) DCS from 1.2.x to 1.5.x, and now it does not run. All I see is "app has crashed" with these details:

I thought I might have screwed something up during update so I uninstalled DCS completely and installed again, downloading and running DCS_World_Web_Installer.exe. The same result...

I know problems like this can happen, but it really does not look well if app which used to be running suddenly crashes after (non-beta!) update. BTW before you ask, all drivers & OS (win7/64b) are updated, with all current patches installed...

OMG dude, your a genius :) it worked! my dcs no longer locks up when trying to run a module, ive only got one module installed as of now but it should be fixed.

Now if you can tell me, prior to this mess, i backed up all my config files to my controllers. where are they located and where do they go? , hopefully they will still work, as i saved them when still on 1.2 .

You probably already know/checked this, but you would have to go into the controls menu in game, and select the joystick column, then hit load profile, and browse to the Input folders n apply the profiles 'in game'. Then do the same for the throttle quadrant, rudders or any other peripherals you have. Just copying the folder won't bind the controls in game basically.

Sorry if that was obvious/you've looked at that already, but didn't see it mentioned and figured I'd try and help out. The control bindings should still work fine..no reason those backup files wouldn't be able to be used/applied. Hope you get it working!
