Bloodhound57 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Hey guys, I am having a problem with my GBU12's at night and in bad weather. Can someone take a look and see if they can what I am doing wrong? I am trying to attach the track but it is telling me that I am missing a security token? Blackeye Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) If attaching does not work for you try uploading the file to some other host (dropbox, google drive, onedrive, ...) and post a link here. In general: make sure to set the SPI to your target, drop the bomb via CCRP and make sure you start lasing 10-15 seconds before impact. Edited January 15, 2016 by Blackeye
NeilWillis Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 or 5 seconds lasing - which is more than enough!
Blackeye Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I suppose if you can get your bomb close enough to the target in free fall - not sure what you would gain though.
311Gryphon Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Not sure what the context is but I've struggled from time to time with the GBU-12. I tried different lasing times. A friend of mine starts at 18-20 seconds and has great results but if I do that I usually miss the target. From reading I believe the bomb is correcting too much and loses energy then falls short of the target. I've tried lasing less than 10 seconds and that didn't seem to work either. Finally I stuck with 12-15 seconds and just try to drop the bomb with wings level and in level flight. No wild climbing or descending. That seems to have helped quite a bit, but I'll confess that I haven't tried enough to know definitively. http://www.youtube.com/user/311Gryphon i7-8700, 32 GB DDR4 3000, GTX 1080 TI 11GB, 240 GB SSD, 2TB HDD, Dual (sometimes Triple) monitor, TM Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pro Combat Pedals, TrackIR [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Bloodhound57 Posted January 15, 2016 Author Posted January 15, 2016 I hope that works. Ghostraider Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Check this points ! Lase time Not moving taget 12sek Lase time moving targets min 20sek or more Lasercodes ? laser/ Bomb same ? you need sight on target with the laser/TGP Bad weather & clouds ? you have to change the weapon. Bloodhound57 Posted January 15, 2016 Author Posted January 15, 2016 Laser Codes are fine. The targets were moving and not moving. During the day in good weather....I am able to drop from angels 9 and the GBU is accurate. Just wondering what I am doing wrong. ____________________________________________________ PC: ASROCK Z370 Gaming K6 | Intel i7 8700K | GeForce 2080TI | 32GB GeSkill 3200 RAM | GeForce 2080TI | 500GB Samsung 850 EVO M.2 | 1TB Samsung 860 EVO M.2 ____________________________________________________ FLIGHT STUFF: Rift S | Warthog Base | Virpil Base | Hornet Grip | A-10 Grip | Cougar Grip | Virpil F-14 Grip | Cougar MFD's | A-10C UFC | Saitek Flight Panels | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals
Doughboy Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Ensure your laser is armed and set to fire either the laser or the laser and IR pointer. Ensure SPI is set properly, make sure your weapons profile is set to CCRP, Auto Lase On, and the desired time for lasing, PRF codes match, correct weapon profile selected and make sure your laser or laser and pointer are firing. Go Ugly Early! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Dappman Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) GBU-12s need line of sight for laser, maybe the bad weather is affecting it. Also try selecting the GBUs with DMS left and right instead of directly clicking them on MFD. I've heard that can revert it to its standard profile setup and the laser won't fire. Blackeye Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) Unfortunately your track was made with a payware add-on mission, so I can't replay it (@ED would it be possible to allow replays of protected content and just disable the take control feature?) But you might want to checkout the replay yourself and see if a) your SPI matched your target at bomb drop, b) the laser fired (~10 sec before impact) c) the bomb started tracking correctly all the way to impact d) target was visible and not masked in the TGP all the time and check where the bomb actually hit the ground. I suppose extreme winds could also cause the bomb to drift too far from the target to reach it with the remaining energy (just like lasing too early). You can enter the wind layers into the CDU which should then take winds into account when calculating release and impact points - haven't tried that though. See http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=66422 Edit: After some testing it appears ground winds above 10m/s will push the bomb away from the target during the last seconds of flight. Not sure how realistic that is though. Edited January 16, 2016 by Blackeye
