jfri Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I see that the missions are not listed in order of difficulty. For example the free flight should be easiest I think. But the other in what order are they easiest to most difficult ? And in that list where should the instant actions go with regard to difficulty ?
Yurgon Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 But the other in what order are they easiest to most difficult ? Not sure if someone can come up with a comprehensive list. Let me just try to give a subjective summary of those I've flown: - Smerch Hunt: Well narrated. Need to be able to input MGRS coords. No enemy air defenses IIRC. Overall quite easy. - River Raider: Need to choose weapons wisely. Difficulty depends on skill. I'd rate it moderately challenging. - In the Weeds: Low flying, lots of targets, no time constraints, requires several rearmings, wingman bloody useless. Nice challenge. - Hideout: Lots of targets, confined airspace, limited visibility. Nice mission, not too difficult but nice challenge. - CSAR: quite long, lots of targets, time constraints, heavy air defenses if you get too close to bad guy territory; I'd rate it as quite demanding - The Serpent's Head/Tail: Never finished them, IIRC they're both pretty difficult (but I was relatively new to the A-10C when I tried them). And in that list where should the instant actions go with regard to difficulty ? I've only ever flown the first of the Instant Action missions, which by now I can fly blindfolded. :smartass: I'd say this one is roughly between "Smerch Hunt" and "River Raiders" because there are some air defenses, but you can simply fly above them and not care about the Shilkas. On a side note, don't get too fed up with these missions. Some of them are really quite nice, but you'll find much better user made missions in Missions and Campaigns for both Single- and Multiplayer. I've especially enjoyed the "Save Badger" mini-campaign, and once you feel confident in the jet, I can't recommend the DLC campaign "The Enemy Within" enough. ;)
Pochi Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Hello, I run DCS 1.5.3 up to date, could you confirm that I can use user made missions that were made for previous version in user files download? Thanks, Pierre
Yurgon Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I run DCS 1.5.3 up to date, could you confirm that I can use user made missions that were made for previous version in user files download? Well there are no guarantees. Sometimes an update changes or breaks trigger behavior or AI unit behavior, and as a result older missions sometimes just don't progress as they should. Many missions have their own discussion thread here on the forum, that would be a good place to see if the question has been answered by the mission author or other players who were able to fly them successfully. Or you could just try the mission. Worst case scenario: it crashes somewhere near the end and you'll have wasted some time (or not, in case you had a fun time up to that point, or learned something new :smartass:).
