Mustang Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I've been checking out this app on the guru3d forums http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=404465 if you have a recent AMD card and have some suspect FPS issues i would certainly give this a go, it has given me a really noticeable improvement with my R9 380. 1
Mustang Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 No one else tried this program out? performance increase has been like night and day after using this, not only in DCS but in other games i play.
20thBG_Blackwolf Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I have a R9270 Mustang. I tested it out blocking the DCS.exe. I can't see much of a gain so far but I'll keep playing with it. Nice find for us AMD guys though! BSD Discord , BSD Website If it doesn't hover, it just sucks and blows
Mustang Posted January 26, 2016 Author Posted January 26, 2016 I have a R9270 Mustang. I tested it out blocking the DCS.exe. I can't see much of a gain so far but I'll keep playing with it. Nice find for us AMD guys though! Hey, yeah i think the results will vary depending on what card model you have i guess, for some reason this app really unleashed the framerates on my 380.
20thBG_Blackwolf Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I notice that when I get close to any action I get a frame drop to almost single digits. That could be my 4gig ram or the card. So to make sure I'm doing it right...I pick my DCS.EXE as the one to block, fire it up,make sure the icon turns red and I should be good to go? I use HWMonitor to watch my temps and amount of gpu and cpu used and the gpu tweak that came with the R9-270. It would be nice it this would stop the frame drop and save me from buying more ram(yes I know, I need more anyways). Back to testing. I tested this on my nVidia GTX 670, and it seems to work in clocking it up as well. Have not tried in any games yet, but recommended it to people that had problems with TrackIR downclocking their nVidia 9xx cards. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=158609 System specs: Gigabyte Aorus Master, i7 9700K@std, GTX 1080TI OC, 32 GB 3000 MHz RAM, NVMe M.2 SSD, Oculus Quest VR (2x1600x1440) Warthog HOTAS w/150mm extension, Slaw pedals, Gametrix Jetseat, TrackIR for monitor use
SkateZilla Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Card that see the most benefit are the newer ones with the dynamic clock that changes based on temperature and power limits. Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
20thBG_Blackwolf Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) It seems to work with mine. I do not get the studders as bad when there is a lot of action going on. My gpu says it is at 950 but with this running it maxes it out at 1096. Older card but the lowest I saw my frame rate was 17, playable not a slideshow like I saw before. So I guess it does help me. Thanks again for the find Mustang. Edit: Hey Skate, on the other side of VA in the mountains so we saw some snow here. How did ya'll do on the East side? I got about 16 inches here.
