Of course we'd need the Tempest and Meteor as well so we can do the wing tipping thing.

VEAO is planning to make the Meteor at some point, but we sorely miss anyone with plans to make the Tempest Mk. V, which is iconic in my opinion.

Btw. I think actually the Spitfire XIV (which VEAO has under development) was used for wing tipping as well.

System specs:

Gigabyte Aorus Master, i7 9700K@std, GTX 1080TI OC, 32 GB 3000 MHz RAM, NVMe M.2 SSD, Oculus Quest VR (2x1600x1440)

Warthog HOTAS w/150mm extension, Slaw pedals, Gametrix Jetseat, TrackIR for monitor use

The first doodlebug taken down by wing tipping was by a Mustang. The low altitude and 350 knot airspeed of the V1 meant only the Tempest was fast enough to be effective against them, otherwise the pilot needed to have an altitude advantage to gain enough airspeed. There were only a few Tempests available when the V1 first appeared. The V1 was tipped just using the air flow over the interceptors wing, and it didn't take much of a tilt to upset the giros and cause the V1 to nose in. Even flying across the flightpath of the V1 was effective in disabling the guidance system, a technique used by Mosquitoes.

The most successful aircraft against them was the Mosquito, but there were also modified P-47s, lightened by reducing the number of fuel tanks, but yes, the Spitfire has it's share too, and there was even a Wellington bomber equipped with an early AWACS system employed to detect them.

The majority were shot down by AAA however.

and they did their thing into Antwerp as well...

Duxford, apparently has a launch ramp contained within her hallowed halls

1944 WWII wouldn't be complete without the Fieseler Fi 103 "Buzz- Bomb", and the most feared sound when the engine cutout

Your mission:

Scramble and shoot these blighters down

Find their launch ramps and take them out

I believe it's near the ground warfare building....

That reminds me... need to buy the tickets.

I and a lot of PC pilots I know would certainly like to see the Tempest V as a flyable module in DCS

We just need a developer to see the potential and give the customers and the WWII project historical context this fantastic aircraft. The 2nd TAF employed the Tempest V to excellent effect, so it would be great to see this aircraft in DCS able to perform its historical role.

Happy landings,
