harf4ng Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Hi, Would like to know if you have good aviation movies you can recommend, that we can find in bluray format, so in HD. Thanks Favorite modules : Huey, F-86F, F14 and P-51D Quest 2, RTX 3080, i7 10700K, 16 Gb of RAM, Pro Flight Trainer PUMA helicopter setup, Warthog HOTAS with two force sensitive stick, custom cockpit and a GS-Cobra dynamic seat.
escaner Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 If you mean good as in "The right stuff", then I recommend "The right stuff". :) Unfortunately aviation movies are not very good if we keep space aside. Well, even "The right stuff" enters into the space theme. Others worth looking that I pretty much like: - A dark blue world - Memphis Belle - The final countdown - The aviator - Airplane! (not sure whether this one qualifies, but it is just hilarious) A few historical, almost documentary: - Midway - The Dambusters - Tora, tora, tora - Battle of Britain Some jets: - Top Gun - Iron Eagle saga (the first one is not really that bad... I mean, it is pretty bad, but watch-able... cannot say the same about the others.) TBH, there are lots more If we can include space movies, very worth seeing: - 2001: A space odyssey - Apollo 13 - From the Earth to the Moon (miniseries) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

harf4ng Posted February 6, 2016 Author Posted February 6, 2016 Thanks. I bought yesterday in bluray : Top gun, les chevaliers du ciel, and blue thunder. So I have two military planes movies and an helicopter one :) Favorite modules : Huey, F-86F, F14 and P-51D Quest 2, RTX 3080, i7 10700K, 16 Gb of RAM, Pro Flight Trainer PUMA helicopter setup, Warthog HOTAS with two force sensitive stick, custom cockpit and a GS-Cobra dynamic seat.
Grundar Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I'll second The Final Countdown. Includes F-14's versus AM6's in a time travel story, it's a great movie.
harf4ng Posted February 6, 2016 Author Posted February 6, 2016 Yes I saw it. Though I found it very frustrating the end when they do not... Will not say it :) Favorite modules : Huey, F-86F, F14 and P-51D Quest 2, RTX 3080, i7 10700K, 16 Gb of RAM, Pro Flight Trainer PUMA helicopter setup, Warthog HOTAS with two force sensitive stick, custom cockpit and a GS-Cobra dynamic seat.

harf4ng Posted February 6, 2016 Author Posted February 6, 2016 Waow. A lot of movies, thanks. Will check. Though I seek movies in HD, bluray, so I guess too old movies do not have that :) Favorite modules : Huey, F-86F, F14 and P-51D Quest 2, RTX 3080, i7 10700K, 16 Gb of RAM, Pro Flight Trainer PUMA helicopter setup, Warthog HOTAS with two force sensitive stick, custom cockpit and a GS-Cobra dynamic seat.
schroedi Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 (edited) Flight of the Intruder is a great movie, too. Main character in the movie A-6A and A-6B Intruder. The best aircraft porn is by far Skyfighters, much better scenes than Top Gun, because they filmed everything while realy flying the Mirage 2000C and with cameras installed in a modifed drop tank. Backy 51 Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 The Great Santini - Robert Duvall gives his greatest theatrical performance as Lt Col Bull Meechum. But read the book by Pat Conroy, it IS great American literature based on the author's real life. Then read The Death of Santini. Read both books, then see Duvall bring Bull Meechum to life on screen. I promise you it will be time well spent and you will thank me afterward. SPOILER ALERT! I don't need no stinkin' GPS! (except for PGMs :D) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
