Upcoming RDI Radar changes

Dashed lines: Jammer. Red = Strong signal; Yellow = Weak signal, near burnthrough; Green = Burnthrough. You can see the contact again.

Contact icons without data are fakes created by enemy jamming equipment.

BFR (Low PRF): Nearly impervious to notching but highly susceptible to ground returns. Reduced range. Target lock disabled. Contact icons are hollow squares.

ENT (Interleaved, a mix of LPRF and HPRF): Tries to get the best of LPRF and HPRF. Medium range. TWS lock only. Contact icons are "V".

HFR (High PRF): Full doppler radar. Susceptible to notching but not to ground returns. Max range available. STT and TWS locks available. This is the only mode that can guide weapons. Contact icons are "V".

The jamming icons/functionality are WiP and are not final. This was under development when the quake hit. Since it is stable I decided to release it in this patch. Jamming functionality is all WAGuess since nobody will ever publish their radar ECM and ECCM capabilities.

Enemy jamming decreases radar range between 50% to 60%

Attention: Radar antenna movements with a locked target has been improved, but it is not thoroughly tested thanks to the quake. Radar lock loss ratio should decrease. Please inform if that is the case or not.

Is there a way I could switch from CCM modes to standard TWS ?

What do you want to do?

after a dogfight search for long range targets

You already have a CCM disconnect keybind.

While I agree this would be really useful, I'd only really support it if the Weapons Systems Command could actually do that IRL which I don't think it can.

Happy to see you back Zeus. I hope that it means that everything is fine after the earthquake.

And thanks for the update. One of the most stable so far

During your (or the contact's) maneuver, the elevation auto-follow feature (which is buggy) came into play; when you broke lock, elevation was wrong; you didn't notice; so you radar continued to scan very high or very low, where no contact was.

- wait for a fix

- and while doing that, map the elevation reset-to-center control on your joystick. Very useful those days...

totally agree on that ! the most stable

can't remember times when I've had so much fun playing flight sims :pilotfly:

I have this problem even when myself or the contact are not maneuvering at all. Everytime I lock a target, it drops a few sweeps later. Even if its a giant tanker tanker in front of me in clear sky at small range and aspect. Regardless of range, speed, aspect, countermeasures or anything, the targets I lock just drop after a few sweeps, afterwich the antenna elevation resets under the target, effectively wiping everything off my scope.

I don't even get that far (locking). I fly out to my A2A weapons training area, fly the same altitude as the targets and have the enemies right in front of me. The targets i've been using are "dumb" and fly straight with 0 threat reaction. I turn the Radar to EM and the targets will appear for around 5 seconds then one by one just disappear over a further 2 seconds and won't return no matter which settings i try.

I wish i could decide if it's a bug or my incompetence lol, but apart from some limited combat time in the Mig-21 I'm too new to A2A to be able to tell (i prefer ground pounders). Although i can find and keep the same group on radar with 0 issues in the Mig.

All the M2k radar videos i've watched make it look much easier.

Hi

Perhaps with PID lock; I didn't had time to try to reproduce in this mode, but that's my feeling.

On the other hand, I made extensive radar tests this past week end and have no issue with "dumb" targets in both RWS (Scan) mode and PIC lock mode.

I wish i could decide if it's a bug or my incompetence lol, but apart from some limited combat time in the Mig-21 I'm too new to A2A to be able to tell (i prefer ground pounders).

Given what you said it's probably not helpful to try to get around this (or to explain) just now. I suggest waiting a bit more (1 or 2 updates? I hope) for the biggest radar issues to be sorted out by Razbam's guys; then it will be easier to answer you :)

Please do understand I don't mean to be "mean" or "harsh" at all, Meiz, it's just that I feel that in its current (WIP) status, the M-2000C is just a bit "too much" for beginners to use to understand how things should work (because, as a WIP module, they don't always work as intended ;))

Nevertheless, enjoy the module & the flying while the bugs are ironed out :)

No problem... I'm fully aware that the plane is beta and of course intend to wait for bugs to be ironed out while i learn further, got some ground pounding options in the meantime to keep me occupied. It was less of a cry for help and more of a posting to see if anyone else sees it and posts they have similar issues.

Posted

Well I don't have this exact issue. So probably something you didn't notice explains why you loose contacts. But it would require more details (screenshots before/after, track or ACMI) to nail it ;)

Hmm.. i just created the exact same type of mission i had been testing on 1.5 over on 2.0 instead. Followed the same procedure and kept them on radar for 3-4 minutes before shooting them down. Hopped back into 1.5, same problems as my other posts. I'll play around with it some more then maybe try to present something a little more helpful (tracks, more details etc).

Please send us your mission files so we can do a test.
