Drewa Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 I am planning on making a device similar to the one found here: http://www.instructables.com/id/The-NovaA-DIY-Oculus-Rift/ It would just use simple IR tracking and would essentially just mirror the main monitor through HDMI. The issue I'm having comes to the software side of things. The way I imagine going about it would be using Opentrack to track my headclip mounted to the goggles, and then have the goggles mirror my monitor that has the two images for the stereoscopic effect. The problem I'm having is getting DCS to display like that on my monitor. Can anyone tell me how to get this to work or why I'm an idiot for thinking it could? "Wikipedia is the best thing ever. sniperwolfpk5 Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 It would be interesting. I think there should be some option in opentrack. If not then one way would be to use two screens or the other way would be virtal drivers. Win10, Intel 3rd Gen. Core i7 3.8Ghz, 20GB ram, Nvidia Geforce 1060 6GB Opentrack (Download it from HERE), PS3 Eye, Saitek x52-pro Joystick, DIY Rudder Pedals, Google Cardboard with DCS World English is not my native language
sniperwolfpk5 Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 If you are cloning the screen then why not use Google cardboard by using your smart phone. Is there a way to use Google cardboard in DCS? Well I tried my phone as 2nd monitor but didn't try used in Google cardboard as VR experience Win10, Intel 3rd Gen. Drewa Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 I found that option at about 1AM last night after several hours of trying off the wall solutions. I was exasperated to say the least  "Wikipedia is the best thing ever. Frusheen Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Just look at the early posts in the oculus rift thread. Back in the days before VR was implemented by the devs we used lua edits and opentrack to get dk1 working. It isn't a patch on what we have now so dont expect a similar experience. __________________________________________________Win 10 64bit | i7 7700k delid @ 5.1gHz | 32Gb 3466mhz TridentZ memory | Asus ROG Apex motherboard | Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti overclocked Komodosim Cyclic | C-tek anti torque pedals and collective | Warthog stick and throttle | Oculus Rift CV1 | KW-908 Jetseat | Buttkicker with Simshaker for Aviators RiftFlyer VR G-Seat project: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2733051#post2733051
Chivas Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Just wondering out loud, but since the Rift is sold near cost, and has most of the tech necessary to create the best experience possible. Your not going to find a custom VR display, or the custom optics, anywhere near as good, and the software to make it happen. Not trying to rain on your parade, as I love creating stuff aswell, but just saying.
