Does anyone have both a Vive and a CV1

I would like to know opinions I have a Vive and there is definitely a Hit in performance compared to DK2 and the Gods Rays are bad in Elite but not so bad in DCS which is where I spend the majority of my time.

I have a delayed CV1 due in June and am contemplating cancelling the order if there is no significant advantage to the CV1.

Please only post if you have both and have used them with DCS.

I like most have read summaries of the differences and advantages but I would like to hear from someone that is using both right now for DCS

Cheers

I don't have it yet, but I will in another month or so. Maybe month and a half depending on ship dates.

When...when you put it that way!!!

Screw it, I want both to test it out to see which is better! :)

I now know the definition of torture. Having just sold my DK2 on Ebay (took all of 10 minutes) I must now wait about a month for CV1 and Vive to show up. All this after I finally got a chance to connect the Komodo cyclic and collective for the Huey. ARGHHHHH

I'll post my feedback and all three (CV1, Vive, Komodo gear) after my HMDs arrive. So aggravating. :)

Thanks the You Tube video is semi useful tho I believe Vive must have been updated already as Elite Runs much better on my GTX 980.

I will have a CV1 in Mid June just not sure if I should save the money, I will if DCS is not smoother on CV1 than Vive . Hence my original question which I will ask again.

Is there anyone on here that actually has both Vive and CV 1 and if so how does DCS compare.

thanks

Andy

Not many people playing DCS will have both systems, but hopefully someone will help you soon enough. The general feeling is the Rifts displays, optics, and ATW software work better. With Vive having a slightly higher FOV. If your primarily a flight/racing simmer the Rift may be a better choice. See youtube videos from Flyinside, Tested, and UKRifter, all very experienced in the difference between the headsets. Also the CFS...Cliffs of Dover could have Rift support this year. If your a general gamer, and can't wait for the Rifts Touch controllers, the Vive might be the better choice. :)

My Vive is coming this Tuesday. 3 Weeks later, CV1 should arrive. As I mentioned before, I'll write up a review after I have both.

I've got both.

My rambelings after receiving the Rift CV1: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18726269

and the same for the Vive: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18727285

Two years ago I was tinkering with DCS to work better with the DK2 as well: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=129920

I cover a lot of my thoughts in those threads but specifically the differences between the Rift and Vive for DCS I would say:

1) The Rift lenses tend to result in more light rays compared to the Vive - but you don't notice during gameplay unless you consciously look for them.

2) The Rift built in headphones are super convenient.

3) The Rift screen is better for DCS. Same resolution but the Rift pixel fill is better so there's less screen door effect so ultimately text (and instruments) is easier to read.

4) Due to built in asynchronous timewarp the Rift feels much more pleasant to play with as the framerate is kept in the sweet spot more often (it's not perfect though). For example though, that lagging you get in the menus in the Vive doesn't happen at all, so even before you start flying you feel much better :)

Anything else I can answer?

Another thing I'd say, if you've got the Vive, you don't need the Rift... but if you didn't have Vive, I'd buy the Rift - and get touch as soon as it launches :)

Thanks, in summary then you don't feel the better frame rate and vision for DCS is significant.

cheers

Hi Andrew,

Sorry for the late reply! I'd seen your question and though I'd responded but obviously not!

If you wanted just to have just one, and only play DCS, I'd buy the Rift.

The perceived resolution bump is very nice (but not so much that you should expect a different experience - you'll still have trouble spotting targets without labels) and combined with the current state of asynchronous timewarp (ATW) just makes it a much more playable experience.

Saying that though, the Vive will no doubt come along with their own implementation of ATW... sooo then it will just be resolution... ach, but side by side it's just that little easier to read the instruments with the Rift and that won't change...

I suppose I'm saying the Rift is better for DCS.

If you can sell your Vive for a profit (which is likely given current delays) then buy a Rift then it's win win anyway :)

Thanks Roy, I guess I will end up with both myself then.

Thanks
