SkateZilla Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 (edited) Oculus runtimes dont support XF/SLi afaik. As for 2x RX480 vs 1080 and DCS: -They were not using XFire, they were using Explicit Multi-Adapter (Which is DX12, DCS uses DX11) -They were using DirectX 12 (Again DCS Uses DX11) -They were Forcing Asyncronous Compute (Again, a DX12 Feature, DCS Uses DX11) -DX12 is Not Mantle Based, DX12 Uses low level access to remove the DX Software Layer/Driver, nothing to do w/ Mantle. -Mantle 1.0 was used by AMD to force developers to see the benefit of direct to GPU Programming Performance -Mantle 1.0 was discontinued, and AMD works w/ Khronos on Vulkan, which uses a majority of the Mantle Base code. SkateZilla Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 (edited) Not to revive your old thread, but I've run into a black screen issue now on my main PC. Launch Oculus Client, Black Screen, but the screens are CLEARLY On, any VR APP after that will hang. Replace HDMI w/ MinIDP->HDMI on purpose, I get the normal color spacing lines, but still a black screen, Like something is Blocking the VR Environment from loading, 2 reboots, the same thing, and it was literally fine 2 hours ago. Going through the Perf Logs for the Session... I See everything but my Ram and USB Controllers Fail, lol, which I already knew (Oculus doesnt like AMD, lol). But, nothing in the log says hardware error, in fact it says unit diag passed. the sessionlogs from now, are identical to ones from previously working session w/ exception of time stamps. Tried replugging USB, HDMI on both ends, etc etc, nada... I'm thinking there was another Runtime Update as the 1.4.xxxxxx Version number looks higher. Also didnt get a change of re-plugging USB for Tracking Unit, But Everything shows Green in Oculus, Load Client, Screens turn on, but remain black. lol Gonna run the Oculus Home VR Unider command to bring the Oculus Home VR Window to the desktop to see if it's running, if not then that's the source of everyone black screens (something blocking the actual VR Environment from loading, which blocks any VR Apps from Loading, as Oculus Requires their Environment to load before any App, regardless of Internal or External App Status. Gonna try on my other system later tonight/tomorrow. I need to get my Windows 10 back up and running, Edited June 17, 2016 by SkateZilla Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
whitav8 Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 @OP (Poly_Roie), Not sure if you have Nvidia or AMD, but I have Nvidia 970 (Driver 368.22) and DK2 running Oculus Runtimes 1.4.0.224375 on Win10. You might not have cleaned up the last runtimes (0.8 maybe) when you went to 1.4 so you should check that you don't have any Oculus Configuration Utility.exe running with Task Manager - just OVRServiceLauncher.exe and OVRServer_x64.exe - then run "C:\Program Files (x86)\Oculus\Support\oculus-home\OculusVR.exe" and you should get the warning and the "hover box", then the room. Minimize that, run the Oculus Debug Tool and set Pixel Density Override to 1.5 or so, and then start DCS World with VR selected. If SkateZilla is still having problems with his AMD system after some sort of update, maybe that is what your experiencing. Good Luck Dave PC HW 9700K@5.0Ghz Win 10 (Build 2004 ) with WMR VR - Reverb RTX2070 with Nvidia 451.48 DCS 2.5.6 (latest)
SkateZilla Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 for me, even using the home unhide command, it brings up a black window, so the VR Environment isnt even loading. SkateZilla Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Plugged into other PC and the screen comes up fine... SkateZilla Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Recap: Everything was working fine, Played games, watched movies no problems yesterday, 2 Hours Later, Launch Oculus Home, -Screens turned on but remained black (but you can see they have power), -Camera Tracking LED is White. -LED on HMD Shifted from Amber/Standby to Off -Launching any VR Apps, caused them to hang in a unresponsive black Window -Rebooted 3 times, -Changed USB Ports (I run the Recomended USB Card), -Put HMD Back on miniDP to HDMI just to see if it's powering up (Got the normal Color Spacing Corruption Lines) -So I decided to try Home Unhider Command, Brings up a BLACK Window, Which Tells me The VR Environment Process isnt even Loading, -The Logs Showed everything as Good, Scrolled, Scrolled, good, everything, -Hooked HMD to another system, Came on no problems. Came Back to My PC, Launched Home Client again, Black Screens, Everything Reports as Good, Green dots for everything in Settings. So I goto Library, Download and install the update for Hulu, Nothing. Then Under NOT installed, noticed a BUNCH of random apps, so I clicked on all those, and let it go, A few minutes later when all was done downloading and installed, boom, the white screen w/ health warning suddenly came up. Is it possible that Pending App Installs are Blocking the VR Environment from Loading in Rare Situations? I know I can Launch other APPs when I am installing apps, so just a random thought. Fab Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Yes, I Follow AMD's Stuff religiously, half the time Im at their events, I just couldn't afford to travel this year, Im Likely gonna Get the RX-480 as a Stop Gap to use until Vega w/ HBM2 and Zen are out. I Need to replace my Lightnings, no HDMI Ports, lol. And I can get 2 and XFire them and use about the same amount of TDP as 1 Lightning GPU. Right now I´m running a R9 390x 8 GB on my pc, should I go after a RX-480 ?
